As dawn approaches on this warm morning I find myself leaning against a wall in my bedroom, staring through an open window, past the trees and mist, at a pastel sunrise. Pale blues and tinted whites fading into soft pinks and yellows; dancing lights and rainbows hanging in the air. All is peaceful.
If there's one thing I miss when I'm away from this place, it's the late nights and early mornings. From sunset to sunrise, this is my haven. It's something the waking world will never understand.
I take a deep breath and feel the cool air slowly fill my lungs. It is cold, damp and clean.
No, I think as a rare smile crosses my lips for a moment, These are the times when I do not miss the city at all.
