Lived & Died Where Worlds Collide
Four
One was good enough. A system built on nothing and from nothing. Sure there were problems, but there are always problems. Complications. Runtime errors. Situations where 'y' can no longer be defined, even by itself, so everything ends suddenly.

He was thankful when it was over. It had been far too logical at first, and steadily progressed towards chaos.

Two wasn't anything special. He wrote a book and filled with the thoughts of an emotional optimist with an explosive temper. Their personalities clashed horribly, but it was still a nice change from his first try. The end wasn't sudden or unexpected.

Everything went as planned. He closed the cover and never looked back.

Three was his best. A perfect mix of emotion and logic. A philosophy born of everything he'd ever known, felt, and thought. He would lecture, often for hours on end, and always come out of it with something new.

The endeavour's downfall was the arrogance of the creator, and his belief that somehow, he could do better.

The design of Four was pure genius. He poured his heart and soul into it, and it showed. A powerful engine, sleek frame, smooth ride, easy drive. But he forgot that other people might want one too, and it was eventually stolen.

Not that it mattered, really. He had only cared for it as a work-in progress.

Oh well, he sighs. Back to the drawing board.
