twilight star chapter 9: secrets


As my eyes starting opening groggily I could hear 3 people speaking quietly nearby. As I listened more intently I could tell that it was 3 men who were talking. I started to open my eyes even wider and my numbness started to fade and I realized I was in a soft bed but also in a different room then before. When I started to try and slip out of the bed and quietly as I could one of the Men's heads swerved towards me and demanded in a gruff voice "what do you think your doing?" and he started to rise from his chair and stomp towards me. He suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me to face him "you've got a pretty face I wont make it hurt too bad". As I frantically looked around for a weapon of some kind the door slammed open and a powdery white figure stepped through the door. "boo" it spoke in a familiar voice, then the man dropped my arms and screamed along with the other 2 and ran from the room in mortal fear. I started quivering in the place the man had left me. Then the figure threw back its hood and smiled. "PETER!" I almost screamed in relief as I ran toward him then entangling him in a tight hug. As he held me close after a few seconds I untangled ourselves and asked "how did you come?" "a friend" he grinned mishievously. I rolled my eyes and hugged him again. Now, I wish he wasn't so tall because this hug was more of a child gripping a parents waist but yet, it felt so safe and comforting. He rested his warm hand on my head. "You know, if this keeps up I may become to tired to keep saving you," As I looked up at him he stared down at me and his smile became absolutely angelic.
"oh really and why is that?" I said sarcastically. He frowned and let go of me still holding one of my hands. "we need to go" He said in a rush. Then all of a sudden, he grabbed me around my waist and broke out in a dead run. "How do you know where your running?" I asked while still trying to figure out what was happening. "I can't really tell you yet, you may hate me," He slowed to a walk and put me on my feet gently. "you know that would never happen," I said curiously "you can tell me anything by this time". He laughed darkly, "okay fine I will tell you but swear you wont freak out," "fine" I said and stuck out my pinkie "Promise". "okay," He sighed nervously, "I'm not human". I gawked, "then what are you?" He rocked from heel to toe and took a deep breath "I'm a vampire" I stared at him for what seemed eternity "but why not tell me?" I breathed "I'm sorry, I never should have told you you hate me don't you?" He paced breathing deeply "crap crap crap". "no I don't hate you, I just want to know why you didn't tell me" He stared into my eyes and I realized his eyes had tears on the edges. "because I love you" He whispered. I stared at him with suddenly burning eyes, I think I loved him to. I walked slowly towards him then in front of him. I stared up into his golden eyes and reached onto my toes and clasped my mouth to his and you know what? He kissed me back, He gently brought his hands to the side of my face as I did the same as the room was spinning. Then it was over, he leaned his forehead against mine. I wasn't the only one breathing harder then usual. I smiled widely and he did the same "I love you," I whispered "As do I" he whispered back. Then he clasped my hand in his and we started to find our way through the winding halls and staircases and finally out of the dark castle. "So, what is it like being a vampire?" I asked "as you would expect, except we can control the thirsts unlike the Hollywood movies" he answered then smiled crookedly as I looked closely I could see 4 sharp fangs hidden in his mouth. Then I looked down at my dress then, disgusted, I commented, "I'm going to need to steal a more comfortable and shorter clothes when we get to the next town," "same for me" Peter answered diligently. As we started to crawl over the hill I could see a huge meadow swaying in the wind with a slender, red and black, figure smack dab in the middle....
