Katelynn couldn't help but smile and roll her eyes a bit when her sister implied that she and Derik were coming with her to dinner. Though her sister said it nicely and without any harsh tone, Katelynn could still hear an "or else" when her sister had looked at her. Her sister was very into politeness. Not that it was a bad thing, but Katelynn had to keep on her toes when it came to manners around her sibling, otherwise she'd get a mouthful. Katelynn was a polite person-- it was near impossible not to be growing up with their father and his constant reminders of what was polite and what wasn't and how to show proper respect for people. However, she did slip up on little things every now and again, which seemed to get her in the most trouble. Althea always seemed to point out her flaws and correct her on them, and later lecture her about it if the offense was bad enough. This time, the reminder didn't really matter though.
"Don't worry about us objecting; after all, he's offering up food! How could we possibly let that down?" Katelynn said jokingly. She watched as Derik tore himself away from the photographs and turned his attention to her sister. He shook her hand and smiled. "Yes, I'm Derik. It's very nice to meet you," He replied. At the mention of Mickey's his smile broadened. Kate only guessed it was because he was getting the chance to check out yet another place. You would have thought his enthusiasm would have died down after being in this city for a while, but no, his tourist-happy behavior stayed as strong as it always had been. She watched as he hurried out of the room and back to her own to retrieve his jacket. When Althea instructed her to get the key and lock up, she simply nodded her head.
Turning on her heel she headed toward the key hook, which she kept most of her keys on. Her room was far too messy to be leaving keys in, so she always put her copies on the hook in the kitchen. She ran her fingers through a couple of keys until she found the apartment key, which she then pulled off and headed to the door with. As she was nearing her sister she noticed Derik come to a stop with his jacket on and ready to go.
Realizing that she didn't have her own coat, she grumbled. She knew she needed to get one, whether she wanted to or not. "I'll be just a minute," she muttered, and then ran off to her room. Reaching the doorway she stopped and scanned the floor, searching for something to use. Even a sweater would be fine with her at the moment, she just didn't want to completely freeze. Finally she spotted her zip up hoodie that was crumpled on the floor. Skipping over a few books that were strewn about, she picked it up and hurried out of her room, slipping the hoodie on as she left.
When she reached the door, she made sure both her sister and Derik were out of the apartment. Placing the key in the hole and turning it, she checked to make sure the door was locked. Once completely sure, she took the key and placed it in her pocket and turned away from the glass door. She began heading toward the closest bus stop about a block away. Her hair
