Okay, so today I had my friend Krisitn (hornet-warrior) come over and we eventually decided to walk down to our neighborhood pond. When we came close, we could see a bright orange flag near the "shore" of the pond. We got near, and we found this contraption...it was a chain attatched to a "Y" shaped stick and a wire square with two prongs. We were pretty sure it was a trap of some sort, and we got to looking around...we found one more...we looked around the same pond and the one next to it. Anyway, Kristin wanted to trip it, but I wanted to talk to someone and look into it a little bit more...and it raised several questions in our minds. Including: what would be in this neighborhood that anyone would want to trap? why is it there? Could it be dangerous? How long will it be there? etc. etc.
we walked to her mom's house and asked her for her advice...she said that we should probably trip them...so we found some sticks and I proded the first one and it snapped shut. I went to the second one and it got the stick...and dang, I could feel it all the way up my arm...that could snap something's neck... and its a hazard to all the animals and even people... anyway, we're not sure if something illegal is going on or not, but whoever set those traps, has a couple of teenagers to deal with. we're going to trip the trap everyday, as long as its there...and we're going to ask our police officer friends if it is legal or not to have that kind of trap in that area. and here is our log:

amount of time traps have been up: well, I took a walk yesterday around 6:30 and they werent' there. so they must have been put up from 6:30 to a few hours ago... less than 24 hours.
total # of traps tripped: 2

EDIT:well 2 days ago kristin and her mom took them. So unless new ones apear, we don't need to worry about it.
