Melody swam through the black water, occasionally coming up for air. She loved being able to hold her breath for longer than a minute. It was extremely annoying to keep coming up for air. She floated on her back for a while staring at the full moon above. She sighed and put her hands behind her head. Melody wasn’t paying much attention to staying afloat, and ended up going underwater. She came back up to the surface coughing. She decided to go underwater for a while and look at the plants and animals. A dolphin was swimming her way. She held completely still as it swam under her.
Melody began to sink. She still had all her clothes on. Her shoes were becoming heavy and causing her to sink. She kicked them off underwater. As they slowly neared the bottom she dove down and scooped them up. Holding both shoes in one hand, Melody slowly made her way to the shore. When she got to the shore she set her shoes far enough away that they wouldn’t get swept away by the current. She then walked back to the calm waves.
She got back in the water to finish her late night swim. As she got a bit deeper she began to feel weird, as if she was being watched. Melody spun around, water droplets flying everywhere from her wet hair. She looked up and down the beach, but saw no-one. She turned back around but kept looking over her shoulder, searching for any signs of life.
