Training
A few weeks passed, my mind still racing with thoughts. Tonight is the night of the full moon, the night of my human form, the night I'm supposed to meet Dante for training. I was thinking about not going. I couldn't bear to see him again after what happened last time. But I had already said I would go and he was expecting me. I am so not looking forward to this!
The sun went down, time for the transformation. My ears faded and human ears grew on the side of my head. My claws shrunk to regular nail size. My tail shriveling back into my tail bone. I'm human again. Time to leave. I told Delila about Dante agreeing to train me, and nothing else. So she knows of my leaving during every human state. I walked out the back door, waving goodbye, and began to jog downtown to Dante's shop. My heart pounding inside my chest, scared of what Dante might attempt this time.
I grabbed the knob of the front door of his shop and turned it. I slowly opened the door. My ears were bombarded with music. I know this song. It's called "Satisfaction." Oh boy, kinda the wrong song to walk in and hear after what happened. I looked to the left. Dante was laying back on his work out machine doing bench presses. With his shirt off, you could see his muscles pulse when he lifted the weights. GET A GRIP OF YOURSELF KIMIKO! Stop looking at him! He finally noticed I was standing there and he set the weights down. "Glad you stopped by Kimiko. You ready to start your training?" He said with a smirk. I studdered a little bit. "Uh, sure ya." "Great, just let me grab my jacket, we'll begin." He stood up and went into the back room, he came out several moments later wearing his classic red trench coat. "Come with me outside. We're going to start the physical training today." I reluctantly obeyed. With a single leap, he landed on the roof of a tall building. Me in my human form, I had to climb the fire escape!......Weak....
He had a training area all set up. An obstacle course, free weights, a running track, the works. "So how exactly is the physical training going to help. I know mentally there are a few tricks, but I don't get this part." I ask confused. "We need to find your limits and expand them. If you take a pretty good beating, your full demon side might activate, like triggering a counter defense of some kind. If you can withstand and become accustomed to pain, it won't come out. Hehe, like this one time, I was fighting these reaper things, they chopped me with there scythes and the blades are stuck in my chest, right? I didn't feel a thing! And I'm just like 'hehehe, fail.' and I just rip them out and kill them with their own weapon." He laughed a little bit. What's his problem? I'm all uncomfortable being here with him after what happened before, and he's acting totally oblivious! It's like he completely forgot what happened! I guess it's better that way. 'Cuz I'm still a little on edge.
"We'll start on the track." He said. He pulled out one of his guns. I stared at it. "Um....why do you need a gun for me to run track?" I asked shocked. He smirked. "A little motivation." He said sarcastically. He pointed the gun at me. "Now start running!" He can't be serious! He fired a warning shot at my feet. OK HE'S SERIOUS! I turned and bolted around the track as he chased after me, firing his gun at my feet, shouting stuff like "Come on! Move it!.....Is that all ya got?!......Get rid of those lead feet or I'll pump them full of my gun's lead!" Half an hour, thirty seven and a half laps. I finally became to exhausted and collapsed on my stomach. Breathing heavily, I looked up as Dante walked over to me and put his gun away. "Pretty good, but get up, we have more work to do." He held out his hand. I was so tired I couldn't even move my arm to grab it so he could help me up. "Aw come on ya wuss!" He said, and he put one arm around my waste and put my arm around my neck and he dragged my to the next work out station. My feet stumble lazily behind me.
"Time for free weights. Let's see you pump those guns!" He said and he plopped my limp body on the weight bench. "Let's start you out at one fifty." I tried to shake my head no, but he already put the circular disks on the bar. He picked it up with one hand, then dropped it on my chest. I grunted, it pressed the air out of my chest and I became winded. "Start lifting!" He yelled. Barely able to breath, I pushed on the metal bar crushing my chest. It wouldn't budge. "Here's some more motivation, each time you don't lift that bar, I'm going to shock you." Dante said. He pulled a tazer out of his pocket and zapped it to show me it was real and it worked. Where the heck did he get a tazer?! I started pushing the metal bar with what ever ounce of strength I had left and actually managed to lift it once. It somehow became easier after that. Luckily, Dante never had to taze me. After about fifty pumps on the bar, I shoved it to the side. It clattered on the ground. I was sweating profusely and panting hard. "Can.....we.....stop.....now?!" I wheezed. Dante looked up at the sky. "Sure, it's almost sunrise anyway. You're no good during training when you get your powers back." I rolled off the bench and onto my knees.
The sun's light hit my body. And like they always do, my black ears reappeared on top of my head and my normal ones faded. My canine teeth grew to a sharp point, and my claws too. My long black tail grew out of the top of my butt again. I breathed a few more times and pulled my achy self back to my feet. Dante gave a small laugh and walked up to me. He placed a hand on my shoulder and smirked. Ok, this is getting weird again! Hurry up and leave! "You make the stupidest face during your human/demon change. It's all like 'aaaauugh!' hehe...well I can't describe it, but it makes me laugh." I pushed his hand off of me, trying to give him a clue in advance. "Well having extra appendages grow out of your head and butt isn't all sunshine and roses!" I exclaimed irritated. "Now if you don't mind, I'm going home! I'm exhausted!" I glared at him for a second, then turned and headed off. "Sure, whatever. Cya!" he called after me, waving goodbye.
Back through Delila's window, I collapse on her bed. I feel like an elephant is sitting on me. I roll over and look up at the ceiling. "Man Kimiko, you were out all night, and you look awful! Hopefully Dante won't be running you ragged like this all the time when you go to train with him. It's bad for your immune system." Delila said as she walked through the door. "Hey, my body, my immune system, buzz off." I said. "Well, somebody's cranky! Well go to sleep, a good rest is what you need right now." I flipped over on my stomach again and shut my heavy eyes, not wasting anytime to fall into a good, long sleep.
