Waiting Period
I clutched the bed pillow tightly to my chest. Delila nervously paced the room. Both of us were surfing through news channel after news channel on her tv, looking at the devastation of downtown that I caused. I rubbed my left arm. It has healed quite nicely from when Dante shot me.....even though it was just a few hours ago. I still can't believe him! Then again, I kinda did deserve it.
"Shut it off" I finally said as I laid back on the bedspread. Delila pressed a button on the remote and the tv went dark. "I don't know what I'm going to do." I gave a deep sigh. "Hey Kimiko, do you think Dante is going to be ok? You said he looked pretty beat up." "Again, he's a demon, he's probably completely healed by now. And you're forgetting the fact that he SHOT ME!!!!" Delila sat down in her desk chair and rested her chin on her hand. "Look, I know it'll be kinda hard since you almost killed him, but I think you should go back. Ya, know? Calm Dante down. Maybe he'll listen then. He's just wound up cuz you SLASHED HIM TO BITS!!!" she said, sarcastically repeating my tone of voice. I began to think. Maybe I should go back. He knew what happened to my family, so maybe he knows more about my transformation. He said half demons can't do that, but what about full demons? "Sure, I'll give it a shot. But I don't know if I'll make any progress with him." I said. "I'll be back as soon as possible." And with that, I leaped out the window and headed to Dante's shop, sure he'd still be there.
I walked through the front doors. The place was still a mess, but it was neater than the last time I was here. Dante must be cleaning up now. "Come back for more have you?" I heard from behind me. I whipped around. Dante walked up to me and pointed one of his guns, directly at my head. He came close enough to where the cold metal tip of the gun touched my forehead. "I should kill you right now!" He shouted. The gun shook in his hand. His face twisted up a little weirdly. ".....But you're not going to, are you?" I questioned. He held the gun still, but he gave a great sigh and lowered his weapon. "No...I'm not...." He glanced down. "You know something about this don't you?" I continued. He nodded. "Then tell me! I am having the worst day of my life! I'm freaking out because I don't know what's happening to me! I need you to start explaining!" He nodded again and gestured me to sit down. I pulled up a chair and sat and listened. "This has happened to me too....." he solemnly said after a few minutes. "I'm a half demon too, so when I changed into my full form, it scared me too. But I learned to control it. I could teach you too." I sat there for a few minutes. He's a half demon? Huh, never would've suspected. "We'll meet up once a month during your human phase. It's easier when you're in your least demonic state. How's that sound?" I jumped up and smiled. "That sounds awesome! You don't know how much this means to me! I never want something like what happened earlier ever again! But you better not make fun of my human state, or I swear I'll hack your kneecaps!" I said delightfully.
"Well, I should get going, Delila's waiting for me back home." I turned and headed for the door. I was stopped by a hand on my shoulder. "Wait Kimiko." He turned me around. "Ya, what is it?" I asked. Why is his palm so warm and sweaty? It feels weird on my shoulder. "Kimiko, before you go, I.....I..." he for some reason was having trouble finishing the sentence. "Well come on! Spit it out already! I have to get home and check on Delila and-....!!" My sentence was cut off, because Dante had his lips pressed against mine!!! What is he doing?! He continued to kiss me. The weird thing is....it felt.....right. I closed my eyes and just felt like I was melting into him. He put his arms around my waist and held me close. Three seconds, I quickly put a hand up and gently pushed him. His lips finally released mine, understanding my message. Long silence of just standing there, both of us at a loss for words. "Dante?...." I managed to choke out after what seemed to be an eternity. "Hmm?" He looked down at me with his light gray eyes that fit so perfectly around his pupils, and a beautiful white surrounding it. Even though there was barely any light, his eyes seemed to sparkle. "Please...don't tell anybo-" He pressed a finger to my mouth and shushed me. He leaned down and whispered in my ear "I won't tell a soul." I trusted his word, and I quickly ran out the door and leaped across the rooftops again, a mind stirring violently inside my head.
"Did he just....kiss me?" I thought to myself as I sat on Delila's roof. I dared not go in and see her in this state, I could feel my cheeks blushing and my hands shaking. "What was I thinking?! Why didn't I push him off of me?!" I ran everything through my head. "Do I......do I like him back?" was the biggest question of them all. Man am I going to have a hard time explaining this if my friends find out! I can't even explain it to myself! Let's just hope Dante doesn't come back to visit for a while, it'd be waaaaay to awkward! After finally calming myself down, I leaped back into Delila's bedroom window. She was sitting on her bed, the tv turned on, watching the news again. "What took so long? Hey Kimiko, are you ok? You look kinda pale." she asked when I burst in. "Ugh, no, I'm not feeling good. I'm going to bed early. G' Night!" I said quickly as I went into Delila's walk-in closet where my bed was set up. I jumped onto the cot and pulled the blanket up over my head, taking several hours to fall into a fitful sleep.
