Delila sat scared motionless in the back seat, I sat in the passenger's seat staring out the window, and Nero was in the driver's seat, keeping his eyes on the road. Nobody spoke a word for several minutes until I finally broke the silence. "They'll probably be sending more troops after us pretty soon....It's just a matter of time before word gets back to the Pentagon and they send even more guys to catch us." Not exactly the best thing to say at the moment, but it was the only thing probably any of us could think about at the time. "I know....that's why I want to get out of here before they set up blockades in the streets....We'll never make it out of the city once they have a tank on every street." Nero responded. Delila continued to stare off into nothingness. "Well I can't stand this glum silence. I'm gonna turn on some tunes, you guys mind?" I asked. "No, go right ahead...I'd like to get my mind off of things for a bit too." Nero said as he turned the humvee down another street.

I fiddled with the knob until I found a station I liked. "Hey Ya" by Outkast was playing. It did seem to pick up our spirits for a little bit because I found myself tapping my heel and bopping my head to the song and Nero was tapping his fingers on the steering wheel along to it. Delila bounced her head a little bit too. Suddenly, something wizzed by my window and exploded on the ground in front of us. A missile! Delila screamed at the top of her lungs. I clung my hands onto the dashboard as Nero spun the wheel and sharply swerved out of the way of the blast. We all looked out the back window. Dozens of army land/flying vehicles were coming up fast. "No! They've caught up to us! What do we do?" Delila shouted. I looked out the back window to the back of our humvee and sparked an idea. "Don't worry guys, I've got this one!" I said. Then I turned back around in my seat and rolled down my window and unbuckled my seat belt. Then I slid myself out the window, pulling myself onto the back of the humvee. "WHATD'YA THINK YOU'RE DOING KIMIKO?!" Nero shouted to me over the roaring wind as we sped down the street. "You just keep driving! I've got this! Trust me!" I shouted back. Then I grabbed the turret on the back of the humvee, and turned and pointed it at the oncoming army. And of course at a moment like this, I had to say some kind of witty banter. "Here, we have a run down soldier. But today we're gonna show you how with a few simple modifications, you can make an attractive corpse." Then I grabbed the handles and pushed a button on top with my thumb, and the turret fired away.

Dozens of rounds a second went zooming at the enemy vehicles. Some of them exploded on contact when the bullets ignited their gas tanks, others broke through the windshield and hit the people inside causing them to swerv and hit one another and flip multiple times until they rolled to a burning stop. "WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I shouted with excitement as the turret shook violently in my hands as each round fired. After I had taken out all of the cars, I turned it up to the helicopters and jets coming after us in the sky. They fell out of the sky one by one like flies to a bug zapper as I watched them combust at my hands. One jet even fell into two tanks on the ground causing them to explode as well. There were still three tanks and a helicopter still after us after that. So Again I tried the "domino effect" starting with the helicopter. "How about a tasty lead sandwich with a taste of Kimiko!! Hold the life....and the mayo...." I said in another witty banter, and I fired at the helicopter. It caught fire and spun into a nosedive right into one of the tanks.

"BOOYAH!!!" I yelled. So now there were only two tanks left. I turned the turret to them and pressed the button.....but this time, nothing happened. "Dang!I'm out of ammo! What the heck am I gonna do now?!" I realized. Then I looked down, and to my surprise, I saw a belt with one grenade. I picked it up and thought to myself "Wow....that's convenient..." and I plucked one off of the belt and pulled the pin....and again with the witty banter... "Calling Dr. Kimiko M.D.! Diagnosis...death. Prescription...grenade!!!" I said as I chucked it at the tanks. It exploded on the first one and it stopped, and as it did, the second one behind it rammed right into it and exploded too. "YES!!! IN YOUR FACE!!!" I shouted with my victory as I beat the air with my fists. And I carefully slid my way back into the front passenger's seat.

"Kimiko that was amazing!!!" Delila yelled as she reached forward and hugged me from the back seat. "Ya, that was awesome!! You totally took those guys out!!" Nero congratulated. "Well don't thank me yet guys, we still have a long way to go before we get back home." I noted. Delila smiled and nodded and sat back in her seat, and Nero continued to drive down the now empty highway as we made it out of the city.

Several hours had passed. It was dark now. Delila was asleep in the back seat. Nero was still wide awake and driving like he had no need for sleep. I couldn't really sleep either after everything today. So many explosions....cool, yet tragic...After a while, I found myself staring at Nero. He didn't notice. "He looks so much like Dante, yet when I asked if it was him, he gave no hint that he knew who that was. He couldn't be related to him...could he? Maybe it's just a coincidence that he looks like him. I mean there's over six billion people in the world...it's bound that sometimes one person looks like someone else... Kinda like that celebrity look-a-like show Delila used to watch..." I started to think. "Is something the matter?" Nero asked after he finally noticed me staring at him. I didn't even realize that I was staring until he said something. "Oh, uh...it's just...." I stumbled with my words. "I wanted to...thank...you...You know, for saving us from the facility and all..." I said quickly as I looked away. I caught a glimpse of him smiling a little bit out of the corner of my eye. "No problem....and hey, you deserve some praise too...I mean, you saved our butts back there." he commented. ".....Thanks...." I said.

For the rest of the drive, it was mostly silent, but half an hour after that discussion with Nero, we had finally arrived back in Delila's hometown. Nero turned the humvee down a deserted alley to let us out. "Well....this is our stop.." I noted. "You sure you don't want me to drop you off at your house? It'd be a lot easier, plus I don't want to wake your friend." Nero said we slowed to a stop. "No, it's fine. Besides, after all this, there's bound to be cops all over her street. I'll just carry her and make my way across the rooftops, and if we can't go home because of the police, I know a friend around here who'll take us in for a while." I said as I turned around in my seat and attempted to get Delila up. "Now I just won't have that. I've driven you guys all this way. I think I can drive you a few blocks more. Come on, I insist." Nero replied. I thought about it for a little while. "OK, fine." I said and I turned forward in my seat and pointed him in the direction of Dante's place, though I didn't tell him who we were going to.
