The Love of Yourself
Kyra looked up from her book, and went to look for her two friends. Entering the next room, she finds Kyreil and Clavia. They're are both alot younger than herself, Kyreil was watching Clavia trying to pull out her fingers. For what reason? thought Kyra.
" What are you doing Clavia?" asked Kyra, leaning by the door.
"She trying to make her fingers longer," muttered Kyreil, who seemed to be amused by Clavia's strangeness.
"If I could get my fingers longer, I could e able to use a bow,"Clavia said
Stopping Clavia from pulling her fingers anymore with her hands, Kyra sat down by them both and said "When I was traveling before, I heard of a story of a child whose parents wanted her to be so perfect, they consulted a mage to split her in to two,"
"Would you like to hear it?"
"I've got nothing else to do,"Kyreil yawned
"okay,"muttered Clavia
Kyra smirked "What, you don't like stories of my travels?"
"It began in a kingdom where even the air is filled with song..."
A Kingdom that where birds had a melody. There was a girl that lived there with the most beautiful of voices. She can even make a tree sad. She was the second youngest princess of the castle. Her older and younger sister both had wonderful voices, but she could over sing them all. She was named Spirtua, after a song spirit that lived in the forests years ago.
She sang during the parties in the castle and the town aswell. She was as beautiful as her songs were. Her gold ringed hair locked and flowed like water in the wind. Her eyes were blue and gleamed like the stars. Her people loved her most for her personality; a calm happy and kind feeling towards anyone she talks and sees. She was as perfect as she seemed. Her parents loved her, her younger sister encouraged her; older envied and her people adored her.
Though she seemed perfect, she had a secret. She had a magic gift. Though no one knew what it was, magic was considered lethal and forbidden in the kingdom. The olny users of magic were rouges or the wizards of the castle, and even they aren't treated to fairly.
When her parents found that she had the magical gift, they wanted to rid it so badly, even Spiritua felt that she was something horrible to look at. They consulted a witch in the outskirts of the kingdom to come to the castle in secret; to help Spiritua rid herself of the magic.
The witch came with a mirror, gold framing with delicate feathers engraved in it. It had the words 'Perfect Entwined' carved on top of the mirror.
"This mirror can rid you of you magic plague," the witch explained
"But it cannot simply let it dissapear, and will come out some how,"
"As long as it does not reside in my daughter, I do not care,"The queen replied.
So they put the mirror infront of Spiritua and she saw herself. For a moment, then blue dust blew into her face from the mirror, and the mirror changed into a girl. She looked just like herself except her eyes were a grayish blue, and she had pitch black hair.
"that is the remains of the magic part of your child,"The witch replied
The girl did not even say anything when Spiritua's mother ordered the guards to put her in a room in the east chamber, and made sure the other girl will not leave it.
Spiritual felt different, more normal. She was free of her magic chains! It had been a week since then, and she had not sang for so long; because se was to rest her voice. Tonight was the night of her older sister Eleine's birthday. She was to sing at the party. When she made her entrance to sing, she shone like the bright stars on that night. She could start singing tonight.
When she was ready she started with her first note; something happened. nothing came out from her mouth, nothing but the harsh sound her of Spiritua trying to sing out a note.
After three tries, her mother ran to her and explained to the confused crowd that Spiritua had a hard cough during the weeks. Since she hadn't sung the last week; it made sense to the crowd and they continued the party as Spiritua and her mother entered the next room.
"what is wrong with you? Can you not sing? Does your throat hurt,"asked the queen
"why didn't you sing? You almost ruined my party," whined her older sister, who just came in; red in embarrassment.
Spiritua was told to go back to her room to get some rest, but she headed for the prison on the bottom of the stairs. The Witch was there, after getting rid of Spiritua's magic. As she walked down the dark steps, she heard the witch speak.
"You are wondering why you cannot sing are you not?" The witch spoke hoarsely, sounding as if she was getting sick.
"why can I not sing?" asked Spiritua, standing by the cell the witch was held in.
"why can't you? Is singing everything to you?"
"I loved to sing, it gave me my happiness,"
"Why not ask the other you why you cannot sing?"
"What purpose will that give me?"
The witch refused to say anymore and laid her head down. So Spiritua decided to go and see the other her.
As the guards opened the door to the room, she saw the girl sitting on the bed, playing with a doll. Her hair was not matted, but unfocused and tossed.
She looked up, "I am Devina, who are you?"
"I'm Spiritua, it is nice to meet you," Spiritua felt strange talking to herself.
"You are the one that abandoned me for the sake of your parent's expectations,"
"I need to know why I cannot sing anymore,"
Devina smiled, a smiel of pity and happiness, "We both entwine as the same people, but when you split us apart, to get rid of your worse problems, you lose your best dream,"
Spiritua felt confused.
"In order to lose what you hate, you lose something you love, it's the way things are with magic,"
"I don't want to lose my singing,"
"did you know your songs came from magic?" Devina got up and walked towards Spiritua.
"I want to sing again,"
"Even if it meant recollecting your magic?""
Spiritua nodded, she didn't care if she regained magic. Song was a blessing to her. If Magic was gone along with the power of song, Magic must be a good to too. If her parents objected, she will not care.
The witch stood by the doorway as Devina dissapeared and re-appeared as the same mirror. It was split apart; and it went back together, entwined again.
The witch held the mirror in her hands, and looked at Spiritua.
"Dungeons aren't very inviting to guest you know," she looked at the mirror herself.
"This mirror was designed to show what it's like for attempting perfection, it is not possible; even with the upmost knowlegde of magic,"
"I don't want to do anything bad with magic though,"
"Good or Evil magic does not come on it's own, but by the user's wishes,""
"What happened after that?" asked Clavia
"How did you find this story?" Kyreil wondered
Kyra smiled, and stood "I was one of the guests,"
As she started for the door, she turned back "Oh, Clavia; stop pulling your fingers. Or I'll nail your hands behind your back,"
"Fine," Clavia and Kyreil ran outside to fight bats.
Again....?Kyra sighed, leaving the room.
