The wolf howls at the moon,
to tell the one he loves he is there
He sings a sad, mournful tune,
for the young maiden to hear
The birds will ask the owl wise,
why the wolf sings to the sky
The owl will answer with aged eyes,
while looking at the moon so high
"He cries to the same moon each night,
because he knows the when he looks to the moon -
"The maiden he loves will also see it's sight -
even if she cannot lark his tune,"
