So I know this guy, Frank (François of his real name - he's French Quebecer) and he studies at Ahuntsic college in movie making. And frankly I have no idea where I have met him or how we became friends sweatdrop but we are on msn for a long time now.
So we meet at the metro and go to the college, just a couple of streets away and into the little studio where the set has been prepared. It's plywood painted in black with a black piece of fabric to serve as the floor - a door - and a corridor.
An hour later his crew comes in; a young woman my age or about (really cute) and a guy (kinda cute also - taller than us all). Frank has told me there are gonna be two ppl with him while filming - putting me in context of "you know you'll be naked ... but I won't be alone ... so how do you feel with two extra crew members"
And you know what ? I did super well! In the beginning when they were doing camera tests - Frank gave me a chamber robe ? night robe ? something you get on either after a shower or on your night dress when you go out to open the door. I'm not sure of the proper name as I do not own one nor use one.
I was then placed in the corner of the set and asked to pose for the camera the first few angle shots so that they could caliber the camera and see how the spot lights were doing. It seemed rather natural to have that thingie on and then - after a while, Frank gave me the "go" signal. Ready for nakedness.
I undid the belt and opened it and took it off and give it back to him ; exposing myself to them entirely and not feeling a thing comparable to shyness - shame - uncomfortable or anything bad. It was just me, my body, exposed to the eye of the camera and 3 pairs of human eyes who acted professional enough to give me encouraging smiles (the girl at least - the guy a few times, though he acted really cool and not making a fuss of a naked girl in front of him)
At some point, I did have a little rash on my chest - as I was suddenly stressed and my heart beat faster but it went away pretty quickly. I would have never thought I would be that damn careless naked in front of strangers filing me. Kinda nice to have that cold professional attitude - not caring that one day a whole room will see your naked boobies or butt. I was mostly anxious about my lil bumpy tummy which stick out no matter how hard I took my breath in stare
We did all the scenes in a matter of 3 hours biggrin According to Frank I was brilliant and wonderful. He said one "This is Exactly!! how I saw it in my head" and at the last scene he just whispered "Wonderful - wonderful" and usually the scenes were good at first, perfect at the second take and just safely perfect at the third. Each scene had been filmed and prepared a couple of times of course to have enough material to play with at the post production stage.
I only had issues with one scene. The "soul" (my character) had to touch a door's handle and and the hand freezing upon it like on burning hot stove and then quickly take the hand back as if I received an electric shock. The whole get the hand to stay there, get the fingers crooked and and then retrieve them in a calculated amount of seconds took me more than 3 attempts. redface It took us about 8 ... didn't count them - but the last one was good.
It was cool 'cause I also could give in tips of angles for the camera and how to shoot some scenes; minor details. At one point, my friend couldn't do the "whole" plan he wanted to show the room in one shot - how dark and empty it was, so I suggested that he'd do like flashes ; one of me in the corner - one a bit in front of me, on my right hand side so show the wall and how deep in the corner I was - one on my left hand side and going in flashes all the way to the other corner, but avoiding the door. And for the last scene also with me walking in the corridor of light - we had issues with the light spots ; they were placed (all 4 of them) on their threepods so they were lighting from above but the whole light effect was not the what he wanted, so I suggested he put 2 down on the floor and two remaining up and bingo we got our "surrounding" light. Fanny also got a good angle shot with that corridor scene. Because we wanted the silhouette to walk in the light and the light to like envelop it - surround it totally - swallow it ...
All in all - It was a nice experience. I think my amateurish artist experience posing nude as a hobby did greatly help me - and the fact that I am now free of the social bounderies with my body (aka ; not showing it for the exclusivity of a lover nor the general anonymous net) but just a piece of art I can use for live art pieces. I just enjoyed the movie angle ; capturing live seconds of emotion - of eye expression - of facial expression - of body language ... it was fascinating.
And you know what is totally nuts ? Last year, in September, after a gym class at the YWCA, I was in the women's locker room on the first floor - and I was shaking like a leaf in my towel getting to the shower section. I was totally about to have a nervous breakdown at the fact that I had to take a shower, naked, in that social place... and there I was this morning, walking around totally naked and not feeling a thing wrong about it. Oh life -
the end
