Forsaken

When the world ceases its endless struggle
When night and day are as one
like an eternal beacon of guidance
a promise of hope like a ray of light has shone
A vagabond seeking peace
Dreams of touching the sky
The only change we know is a breath upon water
As we look to our gods and wonder why.
For one that is loved above the rest
her savior and her knight
No malice can come to them, there is only delight.
Broken are those, whom have lost their will
No future to uphold
to the earth they are forever tethered, their lifespan growing cold
Will you seek the stars tonight?
To the promised land of dreams?
A breath upon the earth tonight
brings the dawn's silent screams.
You seek the truth of it all
The knowledge of what it all means
And even if today is forgotten by tomorrow
Should it be a memory?
In an instant the flame goes out
A void is all that's there
To know the harsh reality that life is never fair
Soul tainted in vain
Set on its path knows only pain
In hopes to set its spirit free
Seeks to sleep for eternity
Silent is the inhale of breath
That gently caresses the mirror of reality
As old words have passed down
the death of all humanity
And even if today is forgotten by tomorrow
Should it be a memory
To give the very last breath of life
To walk the earth and taste the light
I shall give myself silently to this night
