I have created this journal and opened it to public viewing in hopes of finding the answer to a question that's been plaguing me since the dawn of the very first blog:
Why blog?
Why do we assume that total strangers, or even friends and relatives, want to know every single thought that we feel like jotting down? Whether it's random rants, deeply philosophical monologues, scathing political commentary or statements of the blatantly obvious, we slap it onto a computer screen for the world to see and hope that people will stumble upon it-- maybe even comment on it, if fate truly smiles upon us.
For what? Are we so desperate for attention these days? Is blogging the new method of chasing after our 15 minutes of fame?
Since I haven't reached an answer, I'm attempting to understand the reasoning behind creating a journal, by creating my own journal. Comments from anyone who happens to read this fragment of my thoughts are most welcome.
For now, adieu.
