I've always had a hard time taking care of plants. I *love* plants, but I really suck at keeping them alive.
I used to have a bunch of nice little potted plants all growing on my windowsill. Some of them my friend gave to me--Hers had gotten so big she had to give parts of them away. xD Some of them I bought with my mum. But I loved to just look at them, and I liked how well they went with the jungle theme of my room. I wished I could have had more, all placed around my room, but I only have the one small window, and it isn't enough light.
But as I said, I'm really bad at keeping plants alive. They dried out, rotted, caught diseases, and I swear that if I waited long enough they would have exploded. My kitten knocked them over a lot when I first got her, and that wasn't any help. Finally, when my poor plants were embedded with shards of glass, I decided to get rid of them.
I tried taking care of one small stick of bamboo, and it worked out alright for a little bit, then it caught a disease and rotted from the inside out. I tried another stick of bamboo, and that lasted for a good six months. I don['t remember what happened to it, but I know it's not there anymore.
The longest I've kept a plant alive was a good three years (The others lasted maybe months). But, it was a cactus. How did it die? It dried out. gonk My cactus dried out. I didn't know it had dried out untill my brother's much bigger cactus fell over and crushed it, and the insides were a crunchy tan. My brother's cactus rotted from the inside-out, though, so I got my revenge. >__>
I have a hard time with fake plants, too. They always seem to melt, or my cat eats them. I'm worried that he next plant I try to keep alive will spontaneously combust.
