The Example/Personal Poem
By Dominick Cortes
Wonder where I lie in your life
Do I mean anything to you anymore?
I see guy after guy talking to me
Telling me how the mess with you behind my back
Told me how their hands invade your image
Pervert the image you are
Turning my mind inside out
Tired of the dominoes against me
Got better things to worry about if I don't matter
Got school and friends
Family always here to bother me
Got to rewind my mind if I mean nothing to you.
And If this sounds like I'm crying
Then you never cared
Prove me right and show how me how that heart never wanted this one
You never understand how far I would have casted myself for you
Personal Poem named after you
I'll speak this as the truth for you
The example I'll make out of you
To warn not only the world of you but to remind myself the abuses:
I've watched away the scene
The words you really mean
I see the actions you truly mean
So spiteful against me, I'm the shadow you forget.
I'm speaking out now, Megaphone tight in my grip.
Telling you that this is where we don't want anymore
Drawing the line deep in the concrete
This is my world and you stand on your own now.
My world could have been yours
But here we are now
And I couldn't be more happy to be like this now.
