Rose: Debates in Council
Rose sat calmly at the head of the long table set up in the Conference Hall. The nine Council Members sat around the table, with Sahm interspersed among them, and Kyrre at the other end of the table.
"I called you here to discuss the Treaty I made with King Zeke." Rose began. Faces that had been studiously looking over the copies of the treaty that Zeke had sent through were in front of everyone at the table. "As you can see, it is a simple alliance. King Zeke could use the influence of a small clan of Kitsunes in his world and time, and we could use the advances in technology that would keep us out of danger with some of our enemies here."
Triis opened his mouth as if to begin to object. Fresin, however, who had always been on Rose's side, spoke quickly.
"It seems you have chosen a unique ally for us, my Queen. But I feel that some of us are worried that we know too little about him."
Rose nodded. This, she had expected. "While I understand your concern, I was told upon the night of my Coronation by a trusted friend that this would be a great opportunity for us. Kaku is like an Uncle to me, and would never entrust my safety- all of our safety- in someone not worthy."
Fresin nodded, and Philli concurred. "I do not understand his real motives, but I believe that the Queen speaks the truth. And I believe that, according to this, his intentions are quite simple. He wants more tourism, and a draw for people to move to his world. It seems kitsunes are rare in his part of the universe, and we would be quite the novelty there. Plus, we would have an embassy and our own den there."
Triis finally got his word in. "It's not even in our own time! How can we trust that the reason we don't exist in that region isn't because he has wiped us out of the universe himself? Or knows who did? I want him to tell us all he knows of our fate!"
Kyrre spoke then. "Triis, calm down. I am certain that if that indeed were the case, he would not be so casual about it, and would give us information pertinent to us. Besides, we should not directly ask about our own fates in our own time on our own planet- it could cause problems. I, for one, rather like the idea of having a more advanced technology, in case those putrid demons repair their transports and come back."
Rose smiled. She had already been certain of her choice in Viceroy, but it was nice to see it in action.
"So." Queen Rose said. "That's done, then." Rose ignored more than one look from members of the council. "Especially since I already signed it. For now, then, we need to work on spreading the word, and getting together some kitsunes to help build the embassy and the clan on Durema. These won't necessarily be permanent assignments, but I am fairly certain that the amount of time they are there will directly correspond with the amount of time that passes here before their return- something about an aging continuum. I'd like one of the Council to go. Any volunteers?" she asked casually, expecting none.
Fresin rose his hand.
"I would love to assist in setting up our new clan and embassy, Your Highness."
Queen Rose smiled. This was going fairly well. She couldn't help but think that luck was with her today... but then again, she'd been doing everything that they had asked her to so far, and she had promised these changes. She supposed they considered her to at least be following through with her promises, which was true. Rose's mind hung on the word 'promise' in her head, and as if on cue, Nari fluttered in, once again speaking that high twinkling sound otherwise known as pixie, that only fairies and pixies could understand.
"Hey! Listen!" Nari twinkled. Rose looked up at her sharply. "Really. I've been trying to tell you for weeks. You need to finish the mission given to you by the Fairy Queen."
Rose shook her head sharply, unable to respond in pixie (since only pixies could make those sounds) and unwilling to address the pixie directly in front of the council. She mouthed the word 'later', and gestured to a random spot in the wall. Nari flew there, and waited, but not silently, and not patiently. Rose was glad kitsunes couldn't understand pixie- they'd probably want to taste one, next.

... Jeez, Nari, chill out before we shoot off your wings. Rosey's a queen now, she can't be running off to finish other quests until they let her.
