"Wake UP!" Zakerin felt his body get kicked and fly, break through a wall or door, and land on the grass outside. Groggily he began to stand The left. Before he knew what he was doing, he rolled right, Terika's blow landing where he was previously. She looked at him with slight respect in her eyes, as if she hadnt expected him to be able to dodge. Frankly, he was more shocked than she was, he'd passed Martial Arts through stamina, not skill. "That... was a fluke, wasnt it." She said, catching the shock on his face. Not one to lie, he responded, "Probably. Im better at taking hits and keeping going." She huffed and blew a strand of blue hair out of her face. "Well, we'll work on that. First things first, do you know where we are?" Looking around, Zakerin was a little overwhelmed. There were no buildings, no people, not even a tree for a good mile out. Roughly sixty feet away the grass suddenly disappeared, and a few feet later even the ground ceased to be there. "Honestly, If I didnt know better, I'd say we were at the entrance to hell." he responded. "Close enough. This is one of the four entrances to the Hades Canyon, commonly known as the Gates of Hell. You wont find it in a history book, only the decendents of the Mage King are allowed within 100km of this place due to a barrier. This is also where all of his decendents go at the beginning of their careers." "All of them?" She nodded. "Why?" "Supposedly, its to remind us what the magic of the Eye is capable of. Mostly, I think its because they want to get rid of us as early as possible, the canyon is full of powerful creatures, and the breeding ground for sixteen different species of dragon." "Ok, so we've been here, can we go?" "Nope." Zakerin was usually slow to anger, but for some reason his 'cousin' had an attitude that grated on his nerves. "Why not?!" "Because this," she said, pointing at the surrounding area. "is going to be as far as we can leave the canyon for the next six months." Zakerin was close to exploding. There was nothing here, and from the looks of it, she didnt plan on teaching him anything. But being used to not demanding too many explanations from his teachers, Zakerin sat down and waited for instruction. And waited. And waited....
After two hours, Zakerin had fallen asleep again. When he woke up, all that was there was a spare change of clothes and a staff. Resting on the clothes, however, was a note.
Idiot, I was waiting for you to fall asleep, but I didnt think it would be this easy. I kinda lied to you- you are stuck here for six months, I, however, am not. Im going to leave you here for a month, by yourself. There's a stream of water in the canyon, and a few fruit trees also scrape by- they're no high class dessert, but they'll keep you alive.
She was at least kind enough to tell him there was a hope of him surviving. B****.
Now, I know you're probably hating me right now, just wait- it gets better For me that is. The Canyon has a negation effect, probably stemming from an object inside, due to the fact that the rocks have no power at all, almost no magic works here. You make easy pickings for everything there, I bet, but if you survive for a month, I'll bring you provisions, and grant you one request. One.
Happy times, Terika
Zakerin tore the note in half, cursing like a true Blade the entire time. He picked up the staff and clothes, and went over to the cliff. He could get down, but back up would be a problem... "Here I go..." he muttered to himself before jumping down into the canyon that bore the name of Hell.
