“Katlynn, what the ******** are we doing?” Robin asked. He was following her, into an army building.
“Questions later.” She answered simply, again. That had been her answer for all his questions today. He frowned, but kept following. He blinked when he noticed a figure down the hall.
“Is that Steven?” He asked. Katlynn didn’t answer. Robin groaned. ‘Why wont she answer me!?’' He thought, scowling. The figure at the end of the hall stepped towards them. Robin was right… it was Steven.
“Glad your finally here Kat.” He said, without smiling. Which was weird, because every time he’s around Katlynn, he smiles.
“That’s Colonel to you, Lieutenant. Or, Sir.” She said, saluting him quickly. Steven’s mouth twitched.
“Sorry, sir.” He replied, saluting back.
“Someone care to tell me what’s going on?” Robin asked loudly, his expression confused. Steven started to say it’s confidential information, when Katlynn put her hand over his mouth. Robin, there’s a war going on. We cant tell you much. You cant tell anyone. Is that clear? No one. Robin heard Katlynn’s voice in his head.
“This is First Lieutenant Moore, I am Colonel Mandeville. You, my friend, are now Trooper Fisher. Welcome aboard.” Katlynn said, not in robin’s mind, but aloud. She took his hand and shook it, and Steven did the same. Robin still looked puzzled.
“So, I’m in the army now…?” He asked. Everything was slowly clicking into place in his mind.
“Yes. You are a part of the Aux. Of my Aux,” She said, “Aux is short for Auxiliaries.” She added, reading Robin’s mind.
“And you can read my mind?”
“Yes.”
“Do you know how ******** confused I am?”
“Very?”
“Words don’t cover how confused I am. Are you going to explain?”
Not now. He heard Katlynn say in his mind.
When? He thought
When I get around to it. Colonels are very busy people, Robin. Katlynn smiled quickly, then she turned and opened a door. People saluted her as she walked past. She yelled orders.
“Status report, Now!” She yelled at a few people working at computers. Screens all around them flickered. Leading Robin up a flight of stairs, she stood at attention in front of a screen.
“Sir.” She said to the person on the screen, saluting.
“At ease, Mandeville.” The man said.
“Sir, This is Trooper Fisher.”
“Hello Trooper. I am General Zaman.” The general saluted, and Robin saluted back.
“Now, Katlynn, Back to business. You know your mission, correct?”
“Yes, Fahmid. But Robin doesn’t.”
“I trust that you’ll tell him.”
“Yes sir.” The screen flickered and went black.
“Now are you going to tell me what’s going on?” Robin’s voice was annoyed. Katlynn glanced sadly at him, and he caught his breath.
“You don’t need to sound so annoyed you know.” She sighed. She motioned for him to walk.
We are at war. We don’t know with what, yet. Our mission today, is to infiltrate their head tower, kill everything and everyone but one person. That person, or thing, we bring back here for questioning, tests, everything. Katlynn sent him maps, drawings, blue prints, everything. It was now in front of his eyes, and he could control what he was looking at. Blinking twice, they disappeared.
“How the hell are you talking to me in my mind, and sending me things in my mind?” His voice was shaky.
“An implant I put in you a while ago. Don’t worry, it wont hurt you, but it will feel weird, and you may throw up a bit…” While Katlynn said this, Robin threw up. Calling a servant to clean up the mess, Katlynn helped Robin up and told Steven to take him to his room.
Be careful with him. Steven smiled as Katlynn entered his mind.
Don’t worry, I will. Now get outta my head.
No way in hell. I have full access to your mind, remember?
Since when?
Since you agreed to go out with me, dumbass. Steven laughed at this. Robin looked up.
“What?” Robin demanded, staring at Steven.
“Nothing… Kat is in my mind.” His reply was amused.
“Oh. Why isn’t she in mine?”
“She’s afraid you’ll hurl again.”
“Tell her I’m fine, and she can talk to me.”
Your not fine! Katlynn’s voice was sharp in his mind.
I think I am.
You wont be fine until you eat something. This was Steven’s voice, not Katlynn’s.
