Visions and Nightmares
Sleep. Deep sleep. Been up for two nights straight. Eyelids to heavy to lift. Dreams begin to form inside my head, and before you know it, I'm witnessing horrible things. Me, only not me. From my point of view, but not my body. A lake nearby. I look into my reflection. A giant black dog, red at the tail and ears' tips and from the shins to the feet. Weird symbol on the forehead and chest. Noises behind me. I turn. It's my friends, they have their weapons drawn, pointing them at me. What are they doing? "What are you doing guys? It's me! Kimiko!" I try to say, but loud roar-like barks come out of my mouth. Inuyasha swings the Tetsusaiga. "Wind Scar!!!" A burst of destructive energy bursts from the sword straight at me. I quickly leap to the side, using my back paws, I spring. Giant leap, over several trees nearby. Sudden rage overcomes me. Why am I angry? I don't have a clue. I can't control it, I fight it, but it it's controlling me, like mind control. I growl and bound at them, crushing the trees in my path. It blacks out.
My dream continues like this, in small flashes of a few seconds time passing. View comes into focus again. I howl madly at the dark night sky, still the giant black and red dog. I taste something on my tongue. Warm, salty. It's blood. I look down at my paws, their covered with blood too, bits of skin and flesh stuck on my claws. I glance around. A horror of sight. My friends, slashed and beaten,lying on the ground, blood splattered everywhere. They begin to weakly pull themselves up, all except one, Delila. She lies face down on the ground, blood flowing freely from her chest, a large pool of the blood is forming around her. I rush to her, turn her over with a paw. Four large gouges across her face and chest, giant claw marks. Bone stick out in several areas. Did.....did I do this? Looking around at every, back at Delila, then at my flesh and blood covered paws. I nudge Delila gently with my muzzle. Her breathing abnormal and slow. Another blackout.
Vision again. I'm back by the water again, my friends warding my back with their weapons. Inuyasha kneeling over Delila, she's awake, screaming in pain. At least she's alive. Hiraikotsu hits my side while I'm distracted by Delila's screams. Pain. Kagome fires an arrow, purple light emits around it. A sacred arrow? Is Kagome a priestess or something. Arrow land in my back left shin. Yelps of pain, the arrow stuck deep in my skin. Why are they fighting me?! They obviously aren't going to stop. I bound, running through the forest, forgetting the pain. I leave my friends standing there. Delila shouts after me. "I hate you Kimiko!! I HATE YOU!!! I'll kill you!! I'll hunt you down and kill you with my bare hands!!! You hear me Kimiko?! I"LL KILL YOU!!!" Black again.
Still black. Shouts out of the blackness. Familiar. "Snap out of it! Wake up Kimiko!" The familiar voice commands. Eyes open, suddenly awake from the nightmare. I immediately sit up. I'm breathing heavy, my body sweating profusely. Muscles ache all over. My friends are gathered around me. Shocked and worried expressions plastered on their faces. "Finally your awake!!" Delila heaved with a sigh of relief. I've been having nightmares like these for years, even before I ever came to Delila's world. I'm a giant black and red dog, people around me slashed to bits, and their blood covering me. I have these dreams for so long and it's always that one, it must mean something. But what? I have a feeling I'll find out, but I'm scared to. I don't want to know. Or maybe this has happened in the past. I might be blocking out a memory or something. I don't like this. I've never figures out what causes my dreams though. I wish I knew. Delila hands me a bottle of water from her bag and begins wiping the sweat from my forehead. I drank deeply. She knows about me having night terrors. She asked me only once to tell me what I see in my dreams, but I refused to tell her. After that she never bothered me again about it. She knows when she shouldn't push certain boundaries.
"What happened this time?" I asked Delila. Usually when I have my nightmares, I'd involuntarily do something while I'm asleep. "We were all sleeping, you tossed and turned and groaned a lot, soon you began screaming." I set the bottle down. This is bad. I've never screamed in my sleep before. I must be getting worse. Maybe.....that means we're getting closer....to the answer. The thing I've been blocking out. My dreams had never been this bad before. My night terrors began to gradually get worse when I went to the feudal era. So the answer must be here. But where? "You alright now?" Sango asked. I nodded. I felt much better, though I still had a headache. I placed the cold water bottle on my forehead, over my stitches. It felt nice on the wound. My headache soon cleared.
A flash. I'm suddenly in a flower covered field surrounded by trees. I'm myself again, not the dog. Only I'm smaller for some reason. I look over. I see someone. I couldn't see the person very well. He or she was in the shade of a large tree. I couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl. All I could see was white, waving around in the breeze. Is it hair? Clothing? Impossible to tell. The vision ends within seconds. Back again, where I was before, surrounded by my friends. "Are you sure your alright Kimiko? You kinda just spaced for a second there." Miroku claimed. This is REALLY bad. I've had a scene exactly like this in one or two of my dreams before. But this is the first time any vision has happened while I'm awake! What's going on?! "Ya I'm fine. Well, we're all up now. Let's get going." I quickly said.They agreed. We gathered up our belongings and set off again. I followed a little behind the rest, my mind to busy thinking. I'm not going to worry them with my problems. I'll keep this to myself. And I continued to think and worry while the rest chattered away with each other.
