Christmas Cheeseburgers
It has been about two weeks since we've been back in Delila's time. With her mom worried about her going missing again, she wouldn't even let her leave the house except for school. She stopped going there because she said she was on break. Snow had begun to heavily fall a few days ago and hasn't let up. To think the weather was so warm and then it turns into this! Delila was getting excited because she said that a festivity called "Christmas" was tomorrow. Since I've been living with her for a few years now, I had a little bit of an idea about what this holiday is. It kinda scares me a little bit though. People decorate their homes, inside and out, with lights and objects. They put a tree in their living room for some random reason. They appear to take the most pleasure in the tree. I don't get it really. What's so special about a tree? Anyway, then they say a man who call himself "Santa Clause" comes and leaves presents for you under the tree while you sleep. I find that a security hazard! Every year, some random fat man in red breaks into your house at night! He could kill someone or snap some necks if he had the mind to! I don't like him. So if I ever meet this Santa person, I'm gonna make sure he stays away from us. I'll kill him if I have to, but all to protect the safety of the people. It'll be tough though. They say he has a vehicle that is pulled by several magical flying creatures called reindeer. He could order them to take me down with one strike with the size of the horns Delila says they have. Plus, he has an army of little creatures called Elves to dispose at his will. How do I fight an army like that?!
" Hey Kimiko, since you won't be able to come downstairs with us for Christmas because you can't be seen by the others, I've got you a Christmas present you can have early. Here." Delila handed a box to me that was wrapped in a colorful paper. Quick as a flash, I used my claws to tear through the paper to the box inside and took off the lid. My tail was wagging a mile a minute. I pulled out something that I positively loved. "You weren't able to go outside a lot since you tore your old clothes that helped hide your ears and tail. So I got you that." Delila said as I adored my present. I held in my hands a long, brown, suede overcoat like the red demon with the rock fist in my favorite movie wears. It had the agency's symbol and everything! Also in the box that I took out and gazed at was a hat. A beautiful black plaid newsboy style cabbie hat. Two wonderful objects I stared at in my hands."WOW!! I don't know what to say! Thanks!" I hugged her repeatedly every few seconds. "Ya. Now you can go out during the day and no one will notice anything!" She smiled at me, I smiled back and thanked her again. "It's kinda late, we'd better get to sleep." She yawned and fell back on her pillow. I fell asleep too after a while of excitedly trying on the outfit.
The next day was kinda a bummer. I knew Delila would be downstairs all day with her family for Christmas. I decided to get out of the house and go around with my new present on. So I left a quick note in her room telling Delila that I was going out for a while and would be back later. So after scribbling this, I happily put on my new hat and coat and leaped out of the window and walked around the house to the sidewalk where I began to head towards the busy part of the city.
I tried to keep my tail still under my coat. People would kind of notice somebody's butt sticking out almost three feet from them and swishing back and forth. But it was just too hard. I was so excited that I was able to walk around as a normal person for once! So many delightful things attacked my sharp senses. A round meat was being put between two pieces of bread and being eaten by people in a building with a large yellow letter M on it. They smelled so good. I ran into the M place and immediately ran up to the counter, shoving my way in front of several people.
"What is that food that looks round with meat that these people are eating?!" I demanded the person behind the counter. "Uh....that's a cheeseburger. Duh." A girl in her teens said, almost paying no attention because she was filing her nails. "Cheeseburger, huh? Give me this Cheeseburger of which you speak!!" I shouted gleefully as I slammed a fist on the counter. "That'll be $3.75." the girl said dully. "You would make people PAY for something that so many people love?! Heck with this! I'm just gonna get one myself!" I said irritated, and I leaped over the counter and ran to the back of the room where I was smelling the source of the cheeseburgers. There they were. In a warm glass box, all lined up in a row, several rows of the deliciousness. I opened the box and began unwrapping them and shoving them into my mouth. They were so heavenly!!! A medley of several different flavors I had never tasted before were dancing around on my pallet. But, as usual, there's always something preventing me obtaining what I want.
"Security!!" some one shouting, and the next thing ya know, I'm being pulled down from a counter top by two big people and I'm screaming at them with my mouth full of cheeseburger! "Let go of me!!!" I shouted, and I elbowed one guy in the chest. He let go and held his chest with pain, then I flipped my opposite leg around and kicked the other guy in the back of the head. He fell face first into the floor. Other people started coming after me, so I ran out the door and leaped up the side of a building and began leaping across the rooftops back to Delila's. "Jeez, people don't like you eating their food around here." I thought to myself.
I leaped back through the window into Delila's room, but came crashing to the floor with the shout of a word. "SIT!!!!" I looked up and saw Delila standing there, arms folded, face of pure rage. "Hey, I thought only Kagome had the power to control the beads." I said to her, noticing that Delila was able to send me face first into the floor. "Kagome came by earlier and gave me a little something that Kaede told her to give me. She said that wear this ring, I only will have power over them." she showed me a ring on her finger that was made from the same material as my necklace, only one smooth black ring instead of several beads and white sharp things. "Kagome should only have to keep Inuyasha in line, she shouldn't have to make sure you're being good too. So she letting me." she continued. You could sense the anger in her voice. And I somehow knew, it was all building up to the next thing that came out of her mouth. "AND WHAT DID YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING TODAY?!?!?!" she shouted at me. "What did I do?" I asked angrily. "Oh, sure. I turn on the tv and turn it to the news, and what do I see? Somebody robbing a McDonald's of its burgers!!! And then, they zoom in with the camera and I see YOUR face!!!!" I stood there staring blankly at her as she continued to yell at me. "Look, your in MY time, so you have to live by MY time's rules! Which means you can't just run around town stealing cheeseburgers out of the kitchens of fast food restaurants!!" she raved. "Well sorry! Jeez! You should just give me a manual or something about what to do and not do in your time." I said as I sat down on the bed. "Well you can worry about that later. I convinced my mom to let me 'go to a friend's house for a weekend sleepover party' so that means we can stay in the feudal era for a couple of days without my mom suspecting anything. We leave tomorrow morning, so get together what you need then get some rest." she said finally calming down a little bit. I nodded and began putting things into Delila's bag for her to carry for me. (because I don't have a bag of my own and I don't like carrying things) After finishing the packing, I changed my clothes and fell into a fitful sleep.
