My Journey Of Time
my adventure as it unfolds
Swimming with the Fishes

I sat there and watched as Delila rolled up her pant-legs and waded into the water of the river. I couldn't help but laugh at her display of running around and tripping on rocks while chasing after the fish. "What're you laughing at?! This is hard! If your so smart why don't you catch them, and hurry up! I'm starving!" Delila shouted to me from the water. I decided she had "suffered enough", so I took off my shoes and rolled up my pant-legs as well, and I made my way into the water. Delila ran back out onto dry land and quickly put her shoes on and sat by the fire I had made. "Wow! That water's pretty cold!" She exclaimed as she stuck her feet near the flames. Me being a half demon, I didn't really mind, and I spread my feet apart and bent down a little, waiting for a fish to swim my way.

After about a minute, a pair of small trout had made their way to my feet. I stood perfectly still, remembering an old fishing trick my grandfather had taught me. With my feet still firmly planted and unmoving, I slowly and carefully slipped my fingers into the water near the fish. They doubled back a little at the object inserted into the water. I began to wriggle my fingers ever so slightly, trying to trick them into thinking it was a worm. I kept my claws at the ready. Eventually, they slowly returned to me and soon began trying to taste my fingers. I slowly spread my fingers, the fish still curious as why they're not able to get this pinkish object into their mouths. Then, quick as a flash, I swept my hands right at the two trout. I pulled my hands out of the water, and there, one on each hand, was a fish flopping about, my claws still in them. Soon they had finally wriggled themselves to death, and I brought them over to Delila where she stuck each one on a stick and let them roast near the fire.

"That was cool how you caught the fish! Can you teach me how to do that?!" Delila asked me intrigued. "Sure." I said. "I'll show you after we're done with our food. When they looked ready, we each picked up a fish on a stick and began to scarf down our catch. We had finished them pretty quick. I sat there licking my fingers while Delila was picking the scraps of food stuck in her teeth. "Ok, you ready to learn how to catch fish?" I asked her as I stood up and wiped my hands on my pants. "Yup!" She said, and she leaped to her feet and went with me to the water.

"Ok, it's pretty easy. All you do is, spread your feet and hands, bend over, and stay completely still 'til something comes along. Then you put your hands into the water and make them look like worms, and once the fish become comfortable with the fact that your fingers are there, you quickly grab at them before they have a chance to swim away." I told her. Delila nodded, and she did everything like I instructed. After she had gotten into position, a small bass came by her. As I instructed, she slowly put her fingers in the water and wriggled them. The fish attracted by the display of wriggling pink things slowly swam over and tried to eat her fingers as well. "It tickles!" she told me. "Keep your focus. When I give the signal, grab it. Ok?" I said to her. "Right." Delila replied, and she spread her fingers in preparation. "Ready......NOW!" I told her, and Delila's hands attacked the fish, but she lost her balance and fell face first into the water. I pulled her up and asked. "That was good! Just remember to keep your balance next time. Are you ok?" Delila looked up at me and smiled. She held her hands out to me, and in them, the fish, trying to fight it's way to freedom. "I did it!" Delila exclaimed excitedly. "That's awesome!" I told her as I helped her up. "I'm gonna practice some more." Delila said. "Ok Delila, I'm gonna go back to land and dry my feet." and I went and sat back down by the fire as I watched Delila attempting her new technique. She was getting better. A few fish she tried to catch got away before she could grab them, one or two had managed to slip out of her hands, but she had managed to catch about five fish so far.

Then, I shot up. I smelled an aura coming our way really fast. "Delila! Get out of the water! Now!"I shouted to her. She dropped the fish she had just caught and began running to land. I ran to her and pulled her out of the water. I set her down by large boulder nearby. "Wait here." I told her. Delila nodded, and she crouched behind the boulder as I ran back, smelling and listening for the incoming object. The aura was strong now. I sensed it was close. I looked up, and there, floating on a large feather, was a woman, a demon of some sort. She opened a fan and said "So, your Kimiko. Huh. I was hoping Naraku would give me someone actually WORTH killing. Oh well." Then she shouted, "Dance of Blades!" and she waved her fan, and gusts of air came flying at me, cutting down trees and rocks in it's path. I didn't manage to leap out of the way in time, and a blade of air crashed into the ground at my feet, just barely missing me, and sent me flying back into the deeper part of the water where the rapids quickly began to wash me down river. "KIMIKO!" Delila shouted, and she jumped out from behind the boulder and began running down the shoreline after me.

I struggled to keep my head above water. The water was banging me into rocks and logs in the river and it sank my head deeper into the water. I managed to pull myself up for another few seconds, and saw through blurred vision that the woman had flew off .My head sank back under water. I pulled myself up again, gasping for breath, when I saw a flash of red and white dive into the water. I looked over to see if Delila had dove in after me, but she was still running after my along the side of the river. Then who was the other person. I saw the figure coming closer to me in the water Then the water pulled me back under. It swept me along the bottom of the river and the slammed me into a rock. Then it went black.

I woke up who knows how long after. I coughed and choked as I felt something warm on my lips pushing air into my lungs. I turned my head to the side as I coughed the water out of my lungs. I tried to sit up, but my my body ached and wouldn't allow me to. "Don't try to move, you've been hurt pretty badly." A voice said. I looked up through weak eyelids and saw the silhouette of a person over me. The person sat beside me as he put a blanket over me. I saw his face, it was dripping wet from diving in after me. Then I began to notice other features. He wore red robes of some kind. His hair was long and pure white with matching white ears at the top of his head. Yellow eyes, stared back at me as I looked him over. "Yellow eyes? Ears at the top of his head? Then that means this boy is a demon like me! But why would a demon save me?" I thought to myself. "I have to go now. It looks like your friend is coming. You're going to be ok." the demon boy said to me as he wiped my wet hair out of my face and put a warm cloth on my forehead. His voice was somehow soothing to me even though I didn't know who he was. "Thank you." was all I managed to whisper out of my mouth, still to weak to even speak. "Don't mention it." he said. Then he smiled at me and the demon boy stood up, turned around, and leaped into the brush at the edge of a nearby forest. Just as the boy disappeared, Delila came running to me and fell to my side at the river's bank where I lay.

"KIMIKO!!! I ran for at least an hour nonstop trying to catch up with you, but the water currents were too fast! Oh my God! Look at you! Your all bruised up! I'm so sorry! I should've been there with you. I'm so glad you made it out alive!" Delila panted. "It's ok Delila. It's not your fault. These injuries aren't bad. I should recover quickly." I softly said. "Your not ok! Your battered, and look! Your head is bleeding badly!" She told me, as she reached into her bag she had carried and pulled out a gauze pad and some medical tape. She gently put the gauze pad on my head and taped it down. It stung a little but not much. "I'm a half demon, a hit to the head like that will heal in no time." I reminded her. She smiled at me as fresh tears fell down her face. "I'm so glad you're ok. I'm so glad you're ok." she kept repeating and she hugged me and sank her face into my shoulder as she cry until I had to tell her to let go. If she hugged me any harder she would've hurt my ribs more than they already are.

I soon began to feel a little bit better, and Delila helped me sit up against a tree. "Who was that woman?" Delila asked me. "I don't know, but she mentioned Naraku, which means she's associated with him. She might be able to lead us to him." I told Delila. " I hope she falls off that flying feather of hers right into a gorge filled with jagged rocks." Delila angrily said. "Me too." I exclaimed. "How did you manage to get out of the water? I thought for sure you were pulled under a while back!" Delila questioned. "You mean you didn't see him?" I asked her. Delila looked at me puzzled. "See who?" Apparently not knowing who I was talking about, I told her about the demon boy who dove into the river and saved me. "Huh. I wonder where he went?" Delila said. "I don't know but I wish I could've thanked him properly for saving me." I replied. "Well come, on I'm feeling a lot better now. We should be heading after that woman who attacked us. I'm going to MAKE her tell me where Naraku is." I said to Delila. She nodded and took the blanket off of me and helped me stand up. I limped along the ground after the woman who attacked us, leaning on Delila every now and then for support. She kept her arm around my side as she held my arm around her shoulders, making sure I wouldn't fall. And as the sun behind us was setting, I thought to myself, "I will find you Naraku. No matter what. And I hope to see you again, Demon Boy. Perhaps someday we will cross paths again."
