My title reminds me of movie...
But anyways...
As you may or may not know depending on your following of my little story, I created the world Rivina. As I continue on with my life I continue thinking progressively forward about Rivina. So far I've gotten about 300 years in the future (since the Great The Division.) Currently I'm at what I've named the Age of Neoestblisment. This is the turn of the centry Rivina that is suffering from variety of things. Top most of this list is the death of it's Mana Trees. The Mana Trees are the main source of regeneritive mana. As Rivinaian use mana to manipulate their magics they use up mana (unless they're Vulcan Mages which use a process of burning carbon and calcium [Basically flesh and bone] to create an artifical mana that is nearly 100 times more powerful. Side effects of this can be lethal.). Very few research break throughs have led to figuring out how to create this artifical mana or how to save the dying trees. Needless to say Rivina is lossing it's magic. Terrans were the first to loss them (Even half terrans have completely lost it's ability.) Due to the decreasing magics many of the Terran mythic humaniods ( I.E. Elves and Dwarves and other such creatures.) are beginning to die younger and younger and come down with mysterious illnesses that many medics relate to death of a Mana Tree. As of the the 250th year after the Great Division 6 of the 19 Mana Trees have died and 12 preveiously unknown illness have arisen in the Mythicnoids. This has severly depleted their numbers macing the Lorians and Magi the number one most populace group. The Sea elves have nearly completely vanished and the Dark elves have retreated into space (Most people assume they are consorting with the Andromedians.) The most befundling thing though is that despite the fact that Lorians use mana as a primary catalyst for their magic they are surprisingly adaptive at using more and more organic means to generate their magics (Although these attempts are highly inefficient process that have an efficency of less than 10%). A new sect has emerged from the Lorian society and is breaking away from their magics. The call themselves the Neo Lorians. They have pragmatic beliefs that the Mana Trees are collasping due to frantranization with alien species and sending some of the seedlings to die on forienge soil (4 Trees have been sent to Earth. All died with 10 years of Ray Hiwatari's Death. There is much skeptism about the correlation of that...) However many of the older sects believe that Rivina was given this curse by driving away it's old ways and excepting the Terran ways. Many believe that industrialization of their lands lead to the death of magics. Other sects believe that it is because the 3 Mana known Mana Rocks were crushed, weither it be out of defense or offense has yet to be determined. (Mana Rocks are very neat gems that grant the holder the ability to produce natural mana. Every being (The the legends say...) have Mana Glands that produce mana and that the Mana Trees secret a pollen like dust that gets circulated in the air and absorbed by the skin that will activate the glands and spur them into producing mana. The Mana Rocks are ancient stones that contain fossilized Mana Tree roots and pollen, they can sense a void in a persons natural store of mana and active the Mana Glands. The most famous of the Mana Rock owners was Anako Miso [ Legend says that his Mana Rock is the only rock still in existance and the only thing slowing the process of decay that the Mana Trees are under going. The Mana Rock was supposedly burried with his body at the base of the oldest Mana Tree which is still thriving. Guess how that rumour started.] and the other most famous was a stupid fool Terran that tried to use it's amplifying powers to boost an electromagnet that would knock Rivina off kilter and upset the weather patterns and create an apocolypse. [He failed miserably. Mostly because he forgot that Rivina does not in fact orbit a sun. It recieves solar engeries like that of a sun via the tear in Space-Time and it turns due to the ever shifting pull of the electromagnetic interfecernce the light generates as it passes through the tear. Thus the weather is not effected by the kilter of Rivina but by it's atmoshperic pressure and uneven heating and cloud seeding and other artifcial means.] [the Rivinians also suffer an apocolypse every 10,000 years or whenever there's a population explosion that it's planet cannot contain. There have been 5 recorded such apocolypses.] [Also the elcrtomagnet does not use or contain mana.] The Mana Rock he tried to use was crushed by Anako and Ray. The idjit was later killed by some vigilanties, lucky for him. The last known Mana Rock was said to belong to one of the 8 Blivion's. A powerful family (All siblings) that ruled over each of the 8 continents (They called them districts and the districts were broken into sectors that acted as countries and from there they were broken into city-states and then clans and villages. Diagram! District---> sector ---> City-State---> Village.). The Blivion said to own the Mana Rock was Lady Silver, the family Vulcan Master Sage (They all were Master Sages of different Magic sects.) (Only 6 recorded people have ever been granted the title Vulcan Master Sage. (Anako Miso had a health impairment that prevented him from claiming that title although he passed test in reocord time.)). Many say that after the Blivions left Rivina and faded from it's history books the Mana Rock was passed on to one of the remaining Blivion Heir. Lady Illiya Shizuku was said to wear the small stone as a brooch and that durning one of the wars durning the Age of Diffusion (There have been 3 recorded times that have been named since the Age of the Oblivions (A 6,000 year stretch from when the great, great grandparents of the Blivions took the throne (The Blivion family is a large clan of elves.)). There's the Age of Conflict (Including the 115 year war and the Great Division) The Age of Seem Jumpers (This includes a 15 year stretch of when the Rivinaians left their little pocket of extra dimmension and started to trade with other planets and people. There was 60 years total in this Age.), then the Age of Diffusion (a very short 25 year span where the Mana Tree seedling were smuggled from the planet and to other systems (Earth at that time had been without a Mana Tree for 96 years and had not intention of trying to steal more.)) All leading to the Age of Neoestablisment. The Age of Neoestablisment is where over 8 sub religions have been created from dying religions. The only main difference was the elimination of magics and other dark arts from them. Due to the Age of Diffusion many of those on Rivina aren't full blood Rivinians and thus they don't have or have impaired Mana Glands (Which is why many medics believe only the Mythicnoids are succumbing to the strange ailments that have arisen and why the mixed bloods are just as magicless as the full blood aliens.). These aliens and mixed bloods have shown that they cannot absorb mana as well as full blooded Rivinaians and thus they believe that the diseases effecting so much of Rivina is carried by the Tree pollen. As mentioned the though the Neo Lorians have hit a major growth spurt because many of their practicers have still retained their basic abilities to alter their appearences and cast simple hexes and curses (Some Terrans call them witches. Rivinaians call them lucky.). They're currently headed by a Master Priestess that claims to be a reborn Lorian. She is a mysterious figure that has all the old powers of the Lorians (Which most full blooded Lorians have lost.). Many believe that she dug up the last remaining Mana Rock and had broken into several function shards that she gave to her Head Priests and Priestesses, who also can use more powerful than average spells. Another recently emerged cultist like religion is the Neo Vulcans. A slightly thriving group of Vulcan mages that use the artifical mana instead of the natural mana. Many people stear clear of them because they're a little loopy and to be quite frank they think eveyr one should die for something they (The cult) believe in (And that is sacrificial offernings to the God and Godess of Fire.), also they love new recruits (They burn well.).
Now I bet you all are sitting there thinking WTF? Why did I need to read 8 pages of bable? That's cuz I'm contemplating a new story. I have a Neo Lorian, a ditzy Psychic, a Loud and not very well lit Pyro, and a vampiress. The Pyro thinks he's the leader since he has pyrokineses (The ability to control and create fire.) and because he wears red a lot. Safely said he's not the brightest burning candle and not the second or third brightest. He's most likely to get in a fight with the Vampress despite common sense telling him not to. However despite his complete lack of common sense and above average stupidity he's kindda smart and charming to the ladies. By the By he's called Syrius Stevens (Pronounced Serious.). The Vampress is the elected leader. She has all your usual vampire traits; haughty, kindda lazy, likes to delagate, very rarely does thing herself, very witty, noble, hot tempered, and very well endowed. Her and Syrius oft get into fights over anything from leadership to best rock bands to favorite colours. She has normal (Classic) vampire strenghts and weaknesses. However she has an added ability of generating and manipulationg lightning and electricity (This includes electromagnets.) Her name is Azila Voshnikov (Pronounced Ah-z-la.). The Psychic though a little thoghtless from time to time is second in command. The Neo Lorian passed it up settling with 'Observer'. He tries to befriend the brooding Neo Lorian although he's surprisingly calm instead of brightly cheerful. He not only manipulates minds (To a very limited degree) he also manipulates wind and air. He stays pretty well on focus though will gladly take the time to ridicule and shake his head at Syrius' anticts. His name is Sora Zavitchi (Pronounced So-Rah.) Lastly is the Neo Lorian who is the most reserved member of the team. He would just as soon fight evil as he would join them. The only reason he's with this mismoshed group is that he didn't think that riding a subway train that was going to blow up to meet up with a group of antiheros was worth it. By the by, I did I mention he's their resident precog? He's the future though he has the hardest time seeing Sora's because the psychic waves he throws off. He carries many relices that most people would expect to find in a gypse tent such as crystal ball, tarot cards, and spooky floating candlebras. According to legend he is of the Miso lineage and the Neo Lorian Head Priestess' favorite apprentice. His name is Vincent De'Leochette. Most people mistake him for the vampire.
Each of these people are part Rivinaian though Vincent is the closest to pure blood at 1/8th Rivinaian. It's rumoured that Vicent and Sora have elf in them. Azila is too old to be Rivinaian but she tells people that when they question why see never seems to age (Vampires still aren't widely accepted in 2574). Many say that Syrius has 1/3rd Hill Dwarf in him (A not very smart clan of dwarves that rarely get anythign right.), however that rumour is completely false. He's stupidity is caused by him walking to walls, doors, telephone poles (Technically they're relay towers but they serve the same function; transmit messages over long distances that one does not wish walk.), and support beams. This story is based on Earth where the super continent (Formed during the Revitilization of Earth and named Yruipo meaning in High RivinaiaNew Light.) when a break out of a New plague cause people's genes to alter and give them strange powers (The lamest recorded was the human fax machine.). Medics believe that it's a result of the burning of the Mana Trees over 150 years ago and that a new toxin introduced by the transmitiong of the deadly Mana Tree pollen from Rivina has triggered the mutations. These metabeings were gathered up and sent to training camps though some people quickly got bored of them simply took out a wall or two and left. This four meet when Sora causes an incident and starts shouting like a lunatic and Vincent who was already chaffing about being brought out here decided to punch some people. As the brawl escalated Azila punches out a wall and they all head for hills where a strange twist of fate (How orginal.) brings them together once more (Aw, happy ending!).
So far I have a collection of scene in my mind of varies things they might end up doing. So if I ever get around to writing more of it, it will be funny and very random with a lotta action and a lotta twists. Like Vincents odd habit of betting people about what will happen, or Syrius actually betting against him, or Azila's tendancy to delagate off all resposibility, or Sora's tendancy to vanish and return when asked about with some sort of confection.
It's just a random crack head story I came up with that ties in deeply with the history of Rivina despite not taking place there.
