The Curse
1
1
I was in my room listening to music, talking to my friends on the computer. I was sitting on my bed while reading something then noticed I had zoned out. I sat there confused as hell to why I suddenly spaced. I looked back at my computer screen and saw that it was asleep. Now, my laptop doesn’t hibernate until an hour has passed if it hasn’t been touched. Letting my gaze sweep the room I sighed slightly.
My room was in the shape of a giant cylinder. I loved how everything had to be costume made to fit. My bed had to bow into the wall so it would sit nicely. My dressers did the exact same thing. Even my closet doors would open with the bend of the room. Also the coloring, I didn’t have a carpeted floor I had a deep stained floor like a char coal color. I had two ceiling to floor windows, which light my room up so I barely used my light. The walls were a soft mahogany color contrasted by the white curtains beside my windows. I shifted my gaze back to my lap top.
I sat on my bed staring at it, trying to figure out what had happened. So I figured after a few, why not turn it back on? So I did. I turned it on and waited for it to start. While it was loading I got up and picked my cat up from the dresser. Her name was, Muffin (har-har) and she was a Siamese cross mix. Her fur was black as night. I cuddled her against my chest when I sat back down on my bed and looked at my computer in Horror.
Why was I in such horror you ask? Well, it looked like my laptop was bleeding. Bleeding! My cat even stared at the computer, her tail twitching until I dropped her to the floor. I touched my screen and almost screamed. It really was actually bleeding. I stood up so fast it crashed to the floor. Laptops normally get a little banged up when being dropped but mine, oh, mine just sprayed blood everywhere! I stood there, mouth gaping as I stared at the floor where my laptop lay.
Did I Mention nothing this freaking weird has ever happened to me? It’s crazy! A blood covered laptop on the floor… And it moves?! I was staring at it and something moved, like it wanted out of the screen. Now I was freaked out, something wanted to claw it’s way out of my lap top.
Walking to it was probably the dumbest moment in my entire life. Truthfully, I don’t remember walking the three steps to my laptop. I gazed down at it when a fur covered arm reached out and swiped at me.
That was it, I was scared as hell now. I screamed at the top of my lungs as I stumbled backwards trying to get away from it. My door crashed open and my father was standing there. He was wearing his Pajama pants that I bought him and a blank white shirt. His dark brown and gray streaked hair was fluffed on the top of his head. He looked at my computer then turned his head in slow motion towards me. I was already standing, running to that damn door as he looked at me.
“Amara! What the hell is happening?!” He glared at me with ice blue eyes, “Why is there Blood all over the floor?!” he asked in a stern tone.
I looked at him, “Dad! Get out!” I yelled as I pushed him back and slammed my door shut. I didn’t realize how panicked I was until that door shut. I was breathing as if I ran a Marathon and I felt like my heart was in my throat.
As my father Glared down at me something, smashed into my door and it made an eerie sound. I almost screamed but swallowed it as I stepped forward and spoke, “Something is in my room, it came out of my laptop!” I yelled as I flailed my arms around.
He looked at me then at the door, “I can see that now…” He said in a strange soft voice. As soon as the last word left his mouth my door caved in and was yanked into my room. You know how everything plays in slow-mo? Well that’s what it did when I turned around to look back into the room.
I felt pretty stupid, I should of ran. Once I turned around I was looking at something like a demon, but in the shape of a mutilated wolf. The wolf was the color of snow looking like tar was spilled on its limbs. I could see gashes and blood, I thought it was blood seeping out all over.
I felt almost faint because of how scared I was. I went to step back when one black and white clawed arm reached out and grabbed me around the throat. That’s when I screamed again and kicked my feet, trying to break lose of the monsters hold on me.
My father grabbed me around the waist and tried to pull me free as he said a few things in Polish. It wasn’t working, but once the beast saw what he was doing it snarled. When I say snarled, it’s muzzle and everything distorted and the lips lifted up enough to see a mouth full of Fangs, dripping with saliva. I felt my face pale and I kicked more, desperate on trying to get free.
One long arm reached past me and drove into my father’s chest. I glanced back at him just enough to see him fall to the floor, a hole the size of the demons fist in his chest. I looked back at the beast and could tell I was empty. I’ve had s**t happen before, but nothing like this. This was worse then losing my mother to a fire. I never saw her die, I never saw how she died, all I was told it was by Fire. All they could find was a charred body.
I glared at the beast and raised my knees up. I put all my strength into this one move and kicked it hard in the chest. As soon as my bare feet connected with it’s chest it grunted and flung me into a wall. I could feel my head smack into the wall and shapes exploded in front of my eyes. Struggling to sit up, I was then sprawled out on the floor screaming with out realizing it.
I stopped screaming and felt a sharp pain in my back I reached back and found I was clawed up bad. A blur of motion went past me as the monster ran around the corner and vanished. I sat up and looked at my father, after that I took a deep breath to steady myself. I leaned forward and flinched as the pain went up my side and back. Looking back into my room I saw my cell phone on the floor and bore the pain just enough to crawl to it.
As I dialed 911 I slammed my laptop shut then sat in the middle of my floor. I rocked myself from side to side as I told the women at the desk what had just happened and she seemed speechless. I thanked God when she said she would send the police to help. I was in denial to what had happened until the shock of it hit me. He was dead…
“Dad…” I whispered through my lips as I proceeded to crawl to him, ignoring the pain in my back. I slouched next to him and put my hands under his shoulders as I lifted him enough to put his back to the wall. “Dad..?” I repeated.
Tears trickled down my cheeks at a fast flow when I checked his pulse and felt nothing. “No!” I shook his shoulders. I felt distraught and let my crying take hold of me. Crying, I pulled my knees to my chest and sobbed all the harder. I stayed in front of him, not wanting to leave him alone.
Witnessing a death is a lot different from hearing someone tell you it happened. I twitched my fingers to the throbbing pain in my back and looked at my dad’s no longer smiling face. I reached out slowly and closed his eyes as I shook slightly.
He was gone, gone and no longer here. I may be twenty-two but I didn’t care if I was still home. I used to have a nice job until I broke the perverted managers nose for touching me wrong. I was working on surprising my dad when I got the horse trainer job. That was no longer going to happen, not now, not ever.
Shivering from being suddenly cold I closed my crystal blue eyes slightly and ran a hand over my cheek to get some of the tears away. People always said I had my fathers eyes, always knew me from them.. I paused as I heard the front door open and some one yelled “police!”
I stood when a officer popped up in the hall. I watched his gun shift slightly before he holstered it and approached me. His gate was large and fast, stopping a few feet in front of me. “Ma’am, you’re bleeding every were, let me take you down stairs, so the others can come up here and take care of your father.” He said with a slight southern accent as he reached out for me.
I smiled slightly then felt my knees give way and the floor swarmed up but the officers arm darted out and snatched me up before I could hit the floor. The nice Police Officer held me against him as he told me, “It’s going to be okay, lets get you to that Hospital now.” He said into my ear as he picked me up and started to walk towards the stairs.
I felt Hysterical when they finally got me on a stretcher. They wheeled me down to the Ambulance and moving my head, I glanced at the cop who took me down stairs, he was watching me before he turned and headed back into the house. I wondered if I was ever going to see him again, I had to thank him for catching me.
I was laying in the Hospital bed when I heard an annoying beeping sound. I moved my head to fast and the little I had my eyes open went black. I groaned, wondering when I had passed out, opening my eyes slightly again. I could see a bit better. I blinked a few times and turned my head to the sound and saw a Heart Monitor. Instantly I panicked and saw the monitor speed up. I sat up and regretted it instantly. A sharp pain made me lay back down and rethink what the hell I was going to do.
In the midst of my thinking I heard someone walk in, I didn’t remember anyone else in the room so I glanced slowly towards the door. To my surprise, it was the Officer from earlier. He was holding something then looked at me. He gave a small courteous shrug and set what he had in his arms in the chair. I strained to see what he had but failed. The pain was to sharp now and I noticed I whimpered, almost like a dogs. Whimpering? Me? Since When?
The cop gave me a puzzled look then asked, “You okay? You’re makin’ sounds like you’re in pain.” He drawled, his voice deep. I nodded to the last part, my throat was tight and I didn’t want to talk, unable to thank him from not letting me hit the floor. He looked at me for what seemed like forever then turned and went after a nurse.
I wiggled in the bed to see what he had brought into my room and noticed it was a pile of clothes. Frowning, I sat up through the pain and still gasped. I also felt the pull of several stitches. I sat hunched on the bed before I looked at the pile of clothes and tilted my head to the side. They were just clothes, but why would he bring me something like that? Would an Officer go through so much trouble to help some one who is in the Hospital and was a stranger? God, I hoped not.
I glanced around the room and frowned. It was white, everything was almost all white in a hospital. I looked at the curtains and noticed they were a cream color. I then glanced at the floor and saw what looked like white with blue speckled tiles. I sighed as I looked at the windows all the way to my left. I then looked down at the white blankets that were covering me.
While I was waiting, I lifted the Hospital gown up just enough to see some of my back and it was bandaged. The twisting it took, kept stealing my breath away. Looking down at it made me think back to earlier and how my father died. I put my hands to my face and pulled my knees to my chest. I sucked in a ragged breath as I felt tears well up in my eyes but, I was not going to cry.. Not now, I needed to be strong and not fall apart. yet.
I heard, once again, foot steps but multiple people this time. I looked up at the door and there were three broad shoulder men. All of them had to be over 6 feet, making my 5 foot 6 look dwarfed. Staring at them made me wonder if they had the wrong room. But, I could be wrong. One of them was staring at me then nodded to his friends. The bigger, yes bigger, of the three closed and locked the door. Fear shot through me like an alarm going off.
Watching them I felt paler then I was when they came in here. The brawny guy spoke, “You’re Amara or am I mistaken?” His voice was also a southern drawl. Nodding my head just a bit was all they needed. Two of the men walked to the sides of the bed and the one who spoke stood at the bottom. I was even more scared now, my heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to explode.
Who are these guys? I thought as I stared at them with wide eyes.
The one at the foot of the bed put his hands on the mattress and looked me over. I wanted to squirm and move away from the gazes of the men. The one at the foot of the bed nodded, now I was assuming he was the leader of the group. (Assuming makes you an a** though) The others grabbed my arms and pressed my back to the bed. I went to scream but they for saw it and shoved a Gag in my mouth. I hoped it wasn’t a sock or anything, it certainly felt like cloth…Glaring up at them I saw the other man crawl onto the bed. My eyes widened and I gave him all my attention.
He smiled, smiled like he wasn’t going to do anything, and that made me Panic, more. He laid his head on my stomach and I watched him take a deep breath. Now, I was curious to what the hell was going on even though I was still scared as heck. Turning my head to the side I glared holes into one of the goons. I then clenched my teeth until he got the point and took the gag out of my mouth. “No screaming.” The one to my left said in a dark voice. Stifling a shiver I looked back down to the one on the bed.
“We’re here to take you to meet the rest.” He spoke like I knew what he was saying. The look on my face must of said it cause he got on all fours and leaned close to my face. I would of stopped him but my arms were being held by the other two goons. Staring at his face I noticed something was…wrong.
“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked.
“You do not know? You are now one of us, we’re here to show… how do I say, show you the ropes.” He smiled then, the smile said he was going to enjoy something. I didn’t like that smile one bit.
“One of you…? Does this have to do with the monster that came out of my lap top?” Asking questions is always going to get a person some where. So I asked one, but for some reason I figured it would have to do with it..
“Monster? I heard you were clawed by a wolf demon. So you are now a Werewolf, Young lady.” He spoke like he was the smartest person in the room. On this subject? Yes, he was probably the smartest.
“W-Werewolf?” I could tell I stuttered and he relaxed on me, breathing in my scent.
“Yes, a Werewolf.” He said. For an odd reason, he now sounded like he was drunk. Can some one get drunk off of another person’s scent? I hope not. “I can smell it on you.. And your Fear is making it come out stronger, Amara.”
I gave him the most confused look I could muster. “So.. You’re Werewolves to. An how do you know my name?!” I made it sound like a question as I fumed at them knowing me and me not them. They all nodded and smiled but didn’t answer my real question. I was creeped out now though. This was probably the oddest day of my life. Getting the crap beat out of me, and now I’m a Werewolf? Now that I think about it, how did they get into my Hospital room? So I asked, “How did you manage to get in here?”
They all seemed to blank out then the two goons looked to there leader. “We walked in, all the Nurses volunteered to show us your room.” He smiled while he talked.
“Uh-huh… and I’m supposed to believe that?, so why lock the door?” Again, Asking questions gets you some where.
“To make sure no one ruins the reason to why we came. An yes, you are, they were all, drooling over us..” He said softly as he nuzzled into my stomach. I had the craziest urge to touch his black hair, just to see how soft it was. I went to move my arms and to my surprise I could. Moving my hand to his head, I noticed he was watching me. I didn’t seem to care, I wanted to touch his hair, reaching out I hesitated just above his head. I laid my hand on his head and his hair felt very soft. Running my fingers through his short black hair made me smile. He pressed his head into my hand like an actual dog and he moved up a bit.
“Boss, we should be going.” One of his goons said as he watched me pet there leaders head. The leader growled softly at his partner and moved up more so his face was right over mine, looking into my eyes. I felt fear pass through my whole body and a knot started to form in my stomach. He probably thought I was giving him an Okay to do something. Please, I don’t need this crap right now!
Looking back into his eyes I noticed they were a deep dark blue like the night sky just after the sun truly sets. Being under him and looking into his eyes reminded me of something very intimate and I felt a blush creep up my neck and into my face. He probably, most likely noticed cause his smile reached his eyes.
“You’re blushing, Ma’am.” He said as he leaned down a bit. Now that made me blush more, I could feel it, damn it why do I get effected like this? Doesn’t matter, I turned my head away so I didn’t have to look at him. Hell, I ended up looking at one of his goons and he smiled. I sighed and it came out more… what word should I use? Umm.. The sigh came out more ‘relaxed’ then it should have and the guy who was on top of me whispered in my ear, “My name is Logan.” That made me jump then look back at him.
He was smiling, that smile that gets every women to look at him it made me smile and I wished I hadn’t but I couldn’t help it.
“You already know my name is, Amara.” My voice sounded cheerful but to distract myself I asked, “What are their names?”
The one to my left, the more muscular of the three said, “I’m Ray.” He smiled and bowed slightly. Gentlemen goon? Never thought I would see the day. He also had a slight accent like I did. Was he Polish to?
The guy to the right, he was more.. Shy then the rest, he didn’t say a word the whole time but said, “I’m Nick.” He smiled down at me. I looked back to Logan and couldn’t help to smile which made him smile more. The sad thing is, I’ve always loved physical contact, I don’t know why, I just do. Makes me feel like a person. A phone in Ray’s pocket went off and we all seemed to jump because we had fallen silent. Logan ended up letting me feel his whole body on me as we all stared at Ray and he blinked as he answered it.
“Hello, Roland.” He glanced at Logan and leaned over to Logan, just enough so he could hear, I’m guessing.
“s**t.. Yeah we’re on the way.” Logan said, I didn’t even hear anything come from the phone. He stood up, his arm around my waist and he lifted my 120lbs easily. He set me down and took his black shirt off and handed it to me. Looking up at him, I noticed he had to be at least six-foot-three, damn I felt short. I took the shirt and saw he was also wearing a skin tight t-shirt under the shirt he just handed me, thank god, I doubt the Hospital staff would let him walk out with out questioning him and his missing shirt. He smiled as I slipped the gown off under the shirt.
“How am I going to be able to leave with no Doctor approval?” I asked in a shy voice as I stood there in only a T-shirt that hung just below my thighs. Oh great, I bet I was going to be flashing people on the walk out. I was also slightly cautious about them, but something made me want to go with them. Something was urging me to stick to Logan like glue.
Logan spoke first, “Our boss, our Leader, called the Hospital and got them to let you out.” He smiled as he motioned me towards the door. I shrugged and walked to the door, he unlocked it and opened the door.
I asked, “How?” While I walked out first, with three huge men following me. Logan put his arm over my shoulder as Nick and Ray followed behind us. I looked up at him and he was still smiling down at me, was it cause I took the shirt? Hell I didn’t know, so I put my arm around his waist shyly and let him lead me.
“He told me to act like… a Lover so no suspicion is raised. Oh and you‘re being let out because he lied about being immediate Family.” He spoke as we walked out of the doors. Oh, I got it, it was so no one thinks I was just Kidnapped. I didn’t have a Mother or a Father anymore, I never had Brothers or Sisters so I shrugged and didn’t care. I really didn’t have any friends either. Or they would have been in to see me, right?
I was smiling as we got to the car and he opened the passenger door in the front of the.. Whoa into a Dark green Ford F150, nice, I was always a Ford fan. I tried not to flirt but I couldn’t stop the words from leaving my mouth.
“Nice truck, I love Fords.” I said as I hopped into the front seat. I didn’t think Logan could smile any wider but he did. He got into the Drivers side as Nick and Ray got into the back seats. Fords always have comfy seats, I brought my knees up to my chest and noticed some one would be able to see my butt so I put my legs back down.
Logan started the Truck and pulled out of the parking lot. “It’s going to be a long ride, you might as well get some rest, Amara.” He said softly as he kept his eyes on the road. I looked at him and nodded slightly as I curled up in the seat. I didn’t care if I flashed him my rear, it was mostly hidden behind the middle arm rest anyways. I noticed I felt very tired and was soon asleep, leaning into the door.
I woke up, being carried over a dirt road towards a large brown house. The place was surrounded by woods and I felt some ones arms tighten around my body. I almost panicked but when I looked up to see the face, it was Logan who was carrying me. I let out a sigh and he glanced down at me. His eyes showed something that made me want to squirm, I couldn’t read his eyes, I never have been able to read any ones eyes.
“We were worried you had passed out.. We couldn’t wake you in the car, you just sat there..” His voice was distant, I couldn’t really hear him talking. He got to the porch and set me down. Logan opened the door and ushered me in. I walked in as I thought about what he said, but I froze. Half way to take my third step I froze, not moving or anything. The hairs on my body stood up and I glanced back at Logan. He seemed calm, like nothing was wrong with the area we were standing in.
A voice came from one of the hall ways, hall way? I didn’t notice it until some one spoke. Great. I wasn’t as observant as I should be. “Finally, Roland has been getting pissed.” A man walked out of the hall, looking at me. A slight smile crossed his lips and I was suddenly aware of what I was wearing. Logan’s arms wrapped around me in a protective stance.
The man was wearing faded jeans and a dark red t-shirt that clung to him. For some one who looked around Twenty-seven, I figured he would have been working out. Because his shirt hugged a lanky body, he had almost no muscle on him what so ever.
“We’re deeply sorry, Alex. We had to make sure she was going to be comfortable with this new life.”
“Oh? Explain it to Roland. He want’s your Head, Logan. Wants it on a platter to feed us.” He laughed, his laugh sending fear down my spine in waves that made me back up into Logan. That laugh Alex possessed was Sadistic. Gave me a slight hint to what he would end up doing. Logan’s grip tightened around me and he growled slightly. Alex stopped laughing and shifted a murderous gaze on us, his chestnut colored hair shining in the light.
“You’re a lower rank then me Alex, watch your mouth or I’ll tear your throat out. Tell our Leader that it’s not my fault he sent us 100 miles away to get her. He wanted her, he wanted us to get her to Join the Pack. So we got her! Smarten up Alex, back mouth me one more time and it’ll be your last mistake.” Logan’s voice was low, almost a growl. I noticed his Southern Drawl was more noticeable when he was angry and I watched Alex pale. It made me smile to see the once ‘brave’ one become scared.
Alex nodded and hurried through the hall. Hurried wasn’t the word, he ran to tell their ‘leader’ we arrived. Nick and Ray were laughing to them selves when they watched Alex get shut down. I guess it’s a dominance thing. Logan was a higher rank then Alex, sounds right. The lower ones need to respect the higher ones. Fun.
“Let me show you to your… umm..” Logan looked at me and I blinked confused eyes at him. He laughed, to me it sounded nervous. Him nervous? Big Ol‘ Logan sounded like he was hiding something, but I found out soon enough. “We don’t have many rooms… All are umm.. Taken.” I looked at him and frowned again. Does that mean I have to bunk with any of them? If so I choose Logan, I think it’s because he gives off a good Vibe. It didn’t matter for his size, he felt and talked as if he was a really caring person and not just a chunk of muscle. I smiled up at him and now he was confused.
“Does that mean I get to bunk with you, Logan?” I purred, my voice sounded seductive and it caused me to flush.
“Ahh.. If you want to, sure.” He smiled now, no more confusion. Goody. So, I decided to return the smile. His grin grew even wider. Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into?
“Logan, Roland says he accepts your apology.” Both me and Logan turned our attention back to that mysterious hall way. Shifting to see Alex as he stood there with a bloody lip and Nick laughed from behind us. From the corner of my eye, Ray elbowed Nick in the side and earned a growl from the elbowed. I think Ray is a higher rank then Nick, but Logan is a higher one then all three? Hmm… “Roland also said he wants to see the Girl.” He spoke with some amusement in his voice.
I turned to Alex and I think it was my facial expression because I knew it wasn’t a happy one, cause he took a step back then looked to Logan. Logan only smiled and pushed me forward a bit. “C’mon, if the boss wants to see you then we better not keep him waiting any longer then we already have.” His southern drawl was stronger now, how angry was he? Alex disappeared back into the hall way as he noticed Logan staring at him.
Logan and I walked into that hall as Nick and Ray seemed to Vanish. Probably to go to their rooms. The hall was long and dark, surprisingly I could see fairly well. We walked and the walls were a dark red with light brown stripes going horizontally. I saw doors along the walls as we continued. Looking down at the floor I noticed it was a midnight black rug. I smiled slightly, I liked the décor.
Logan touched my shoulder slightly and I looked at him. We stopped walking and he went to open a black with blue designed Door. I didn’t recognize the designs as he pushed it open. We headed into the room and he shut the door.
There was a dark brown oak wood desk and windows behind it with a view of the woods. A man sat behind the desk, sitting in the window sill. He seemed slightly distracted for a few seconds but then he glanced over at us with bright blue eyes, like a huskies. Like mine.
