She held her arms close against her body and tried to take comfort in being able to feel the bones beneath her skin, but there was nothing. The shirt he'd given her hung limply over her thin shoulders and she pulled it around her for warmth. Even in the warm air she was shivering. His eyes were burning.
"I'm sorry.." she said softly, keeping her eyes down. "I just wanted you to love me... You said you always would.."
By his words her entire being was shattered, the fragile bones aching inside as a new weight was forced onto them. She felt sick, weak, dead. "I never meant it."
