Birthday card

Walking down the street I saw you
you sat by the bench staring at the moon
I come up to you and ask
what you seek in the moon shadows casted

You said that it was the night
when the stars were no where in sight
the moon shone bright where it stands
that he had came to this land

newborn he was that day
but for 5 years he had not to celebrate
this time of year
he wished for a blessing from those he held dear

Then dawn came there he sat
still sitting on the bench dreaming of the past
I slid a note by his side
hoped that the boy will find

If not all but some
of the blessings he wished to come
sleeping peacefully
dreaming of what could have been

I sat with him and waited for him to wake with the sun.
