CHAPTER 9
After Rena and I entered the castle, we went our separate ways until later. I walked back the way I came and eventually found my room.
My door was open and I heard whispers that I was unable to decipher. When I entered my room, I caught Braya standing by my bed. Braya is the youngest at 13. Her sisters are 17. Anarya is 15 like me, Larian is 16, and Rena the oldest at 19. She's the one that told me all that.
"What are you doing, Braya?" I asked suspiciously. Knowing her I obviously had the right to be.
She was caught off guard and answered, "Oh, me? I-I was looking for...Anarya! And I thought she might be in your room! With you of course!" She began to edge towards the door.
I saw no sign of the twins. I've learned she's almost like their triplet so I asked, "Where're your sisters?" knowing they weren't far away at all.
"They are...somewhere!" she said. She inched her way to the door until it opened again and Larian swaggered in.
"What, may I ask, is going on?" he demanded.
Braya backed up some and answered, "Nothing! Nothing at all! We were just...talking! Yes!" and she laughed nervously.
"There's more than that!" he said witha grin. He began to walk around. "Mind if I look?" he asked.
"Nothing to hide!" I said lifting my hands. Larian proceeded to look around my room and Braya just stood there next to me and watched. I took off my shoes and sat on my bed. Larian threw open my closet to see Sara and Tera huddled up together.
"Ah-ha! Nothing to hide eh?" he yelled. The twins got out and glared at the boy.
"Larian, seriously! If I was hiding them, I would've got them out of here a long time ago! You're slow! I'm way smarter, better looking (no joke), and hey! You're so called "wife" and your sister like me better than you!" I commented.
Larian folded his arms and and replied, "Anarya and I never got along! And another thing! My sister loves me! Why wouldn't she like me?" He waited on my answer.
"Larian, once again you show me just how stoopid you are!" I laughed. "She may love you, but that doesn't means she can't not like you!" I said. I sat Indian style on my bed and crossed my arms as well.
I got off and jumped off the bed. I opened the door. "Let's go girls! We can go look for Anarya some more!" even though we knew those weren't their true intentions. They followed nonetheless, and Larian stood there, pissed that he was beaten again.
We actually did look but I was more focused than the girls. I remembered rule #3 and found a maid. She seemed to be in no rush and was carrying an empty basket.
"Excuse me!" a twin cxalled out ot her. "Could you tell us where Anarya is?" she asked.
The woman stopped and thought. Then she answered, "I believe I last saw Lady Anarya speaking with your father in the study!" I thanked her and she smiled and bowed.
I ran ahead andfound a big door. I pushed the heavy door open and entered quietly for it was a library. I don't have to say how big it was. I like reading!
I hadn't even noticed that the girls weren't even following me any more. The shelves almost touched the high ceilings and those little step ladders were all around. I finally heard voices and followed them. I came to a table. There were about five more.
At one was Anarya and the Head of War. I slowly approached and made my prescence known.
"Ah! Brandon my boy! Please take a seat!" he offered. So I did. The HW taught the kids history. He explained more about this war with Dytarius. Dytarius was a monarchy with only a king at this point. King Zeoff.
King Zeoff had kidnapped a group of Cantharian nomads and is said to be holding them hostage. They have had no success at getting them back.
