People came from all over to go to Wichita's third annual Anime Festival! Myself and a few of my friends included. It was a two day event, to which about two thousand people showed up. We even had a Gaia online meetup there, and about fourty or so people came. It was awesome.
So, Day one:
I went over to my friend's house, after which we went grocery shopping. We got a twenty dollar budget. We spent fifty dollars on junk food. Hahaha. So, we made cheesecake, which was very very good, and stayed up until two thirty AM. We had to get up at seven AM. See how wise we are?
Day two:
We had set the alarm for seven o'clock, but ignored it and got up at seven thirty. We made breakfast, got ready, and waited for our friend to come. She was late, but it wasn't too bad. So we got ready and went. Not as any particular characters, as we hadn't prepared. But we did dress up in weird clothing and have fun.
I'm not going to give you the whole rundown of the first day of the festival, since it was several hours long, but I will say that I bought two of Vic Mignona's CDs, which he autographed, and then I had a picture with him. He was sooo sweet. Anyone know who he is? The voice of Ed Elric, that's who! -swoon-
There was a concert featuring Stephanie Yanex, who is apparently a J-Pop Idol, but we didn't attend. I wanted to, but I was overruled.
That night, there was a Black and White Masquerade Ball, which we went to. We all dressed up in homecoming gowns, bought masks, and went to the party. I won't say everything that happened, as most of the evening was taken up worrying about a friend of mine, but it isn't my business to tell you, so I won't. She turned out okay, so it's fine. Anyway, I learned how to swing dance, which is fun, and then I went out on the dance floor. Once. And someone came up to dance with me. He was a dork, but he was a funny dork, and he had been dancing so much he was red in the face. And he was so short! But he looked older than me. Anyway, I danced for about ten, fifteen seconds, and then we went our separate ways. One of my friends was apalled that I had danced with him, and then spent the rest of the night trying to get me on the dance floor again. They practically had to drag me. Ugh.
So, the first day of the festival was fun.
I'll go into more detail if you ask, but I don't have time for the full details right now.
Day three:
Me and my friends changed outfits. Now I was wearing a Chinese dress, but the others didn't dress up very much. Oh well.
Vic Mignona held a church service, which we HAD to attend. It was wonderful! He was such a moving speaker. Stephanie Chateau, a manga artist and popular cosplay artist attended, and she started crying. She wasn't a Christian, and tried to ask a question, but she was so upset. Poor girl. Once the sermon was over, her eyes were still red with tears and everyone was trying to comfort her. It was very touching.
I went to the Gaia Online meetup after that, to which about fourty people showed up. We all got a group photo, which I'm sure you can find if you know how to look through the guild registry. The AFW guild is in there. But have you guys realized how positively wierd other Gaians are? Oh my.
Not that I should be talking, though.
So, the rest of the day was pretty boring. I was overruled again and dragged off to watch a Yu-Gi-Yoh (Did I spell it right?) tournament. I looked longingly at the wall and told my friend, "Head + Wall = Freedom."
I ditched them after a bit to watch the closing ceremonies. They caught up after a little bit. Then we left for her house to get our stuff and then go home.
It was more amusing than this, really. I'm just busy creaming Barton town, so that's where my attention is.
