i was sitting here friday night / early saturday morning, i had just upgraded my house (lol, now i'm broke again) and posted a journal entry...i was just about to grab my dailies when suddenly a severe storm bubbled up out of nowhere and knocked out our power. the electricity came back fairly quick but my cable services were down for the count. i have tv, phone and internet through comcast.....you know, the folks who advertise that their service is unaffected by the weather. since it was the weekend i correctly assumed i wouldn't get my cable back online until at least monday. when it wasn't back on monday i called comcast and they set an appointment for tuesday and assured me they would have it fixed by then. on tuesday a repair guy showed up, took a look around and said he couldn't fix it. he would hand my case off to a line maintenance crew and i'd be back up and running in 24 hours. wednesday....still nothing. i called comcast again and they told me i was on the list for wednesday and it would be fixed by 8pm at the latest. at 9pm last night i still had no service and i was fuming. not having tv or internet is one thing, but no phone?! ...... for 6 freaking days?! ugh!!! finally around 10am central time this morning a comcast truck pulled up in front of my house and the guy spent about an hour up the pole outside and then my phone rang. finally.
i'll just say in closing that you should not believe the hype in their commercials, they are in fact affected by the weather (in fact the power company got all their customers restored faster and people with the 'normal' phone service never experienced an outage). also, i'm sorry if anyone was worried by my absence.....i'm back now. biggrin
