Project: WISH


Chapter 1

I lay awake in my bed. The clock on my nightstand says 3:19am. Yet I'm not sleepy or even tired for that matter! I'm really stressed right now! Tomorrow is my last day of school and finals!

It seems the worst are last. Literature and Algebra. Gym as well but that was easy. Just thinking about either one puts me in the fetal position! Algebra is the only thing I'm really bad at. Literature is easy. I'm just lazy. I'm actually pretty smart! Just lazy!

I roll out of bed with a sigh and grab some shoes. I feel like going outside. I snuck out and sat on the front steps just wondering how the hell am I gonna even keep my sanity for a half day of school! I sat still and stared at the half moon.

Invisible clouds now covered it partly. Out of nowhere, a shooting star jets across the sky at a sharp downward angle! Like a stupid little kid I whispered, "Starlight, star bright. Shooting star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, wish upon this star tonight,"

Then I said, "Why do I know that?!" but made my wish anyway. "I wish I could get away from all this! Meet some nice girl, go on an adventure! Somehow we'd end up living together! Yeah! That's good!" I thought. I really don't believe in wishing. It's just something fun to do!

I returned to my bed and woke up to my alarm. The morning was a blur. My mom takes me to school so I lazily followed her to the garage. She knew my troubles and the whole ride was a sympatheic lecture.

"Brandon, I know. You're worried and that's okay, but you can't act like this!" she began. I sunk in my seat but she kept going. "We know this hasn't been your best year but that's no reason to give up!" and stuff like that!

I said very little. Finally, she pulled up to the door. "Bye Mama," I whispered and kissed her on the cheek. "Love you!" I called walking away.

She waved and said to herself, "Love you too," and she drove off. I slinked down the hallways waving and talking to friends until finally I got to my music class. I'd wait there until it was time for my finals.

Some of my best friends are in this class. One is Brandin. Yeah, I know. So we call each other Twin. There's his ex-girlfriend, Diamond, and her best friend Stephaine. she's a really good friend of mine as well.

Stephaine in a word is sweet. Like too much sugar in your Kool-Aid sweet. I like that though. she's kinda slow though. Ditzy. But you gotta love her. Which I do.

She was crying and all that so i was with her. We sat in the same chair and I really didn't want to be here. Since i was probably never gonna see her again, i kissed her on the forehead. Just something I've always wanted to do. I got up and left the room unnoticed.
