Darkness and Hope go together
Ice Pheonix ( Kyra's day) ( after the Golden period )
Kyra stood by the side of the outskirts of town. The hay hued strands of grass reached for the sky, rooted to the ground. It was morning and the ethereal colored sky had a slit of the sun entering the horizon.
Birds were abundant in this type of territory, millions of exotic types of birds flew from this plain and over the desert to the rain forests. A migration habit Kyra was studying and the same path that her friends Hanou and Kyreil were heading.

“You’re sure up early,” Kyreil muttered, walking out of the shelter they were in last night.
Hanou came out too, her cloak fluttering like sorrel butterfly wings. She threw Kyreil a leather cloak.
“Unless you want to burn where we’re heading, you’d wear this,”

Kyra spotted Alex, who was trying to catch up as they began the trail.
“Why didn’t you wait for me?” He asked, irritated by the sudden gestures.
“I thought we’d start ahead,” Kyra replied “I would of found you if you were gone too long anyway,”
Alex was the youngest one, someone Kyra found in an Alley during her solo traveling.
He was quite delusional, startled by the slight sounds of anything back then. He seemed to of come out of his ‘turtle shell’. He’s 14 now.
Kyreil came next, age of 16, then Hanou was 17.
I refuse to tell them my age. Ignorant children don’t have to know mused Kyra. Even when she was drunk (which she was a lot), no one could figure her age.

The desert sun pounded its’ heat on the desert, the ruler of the tiny grains of sand.
Kyra observed the area, which seemed useless. The whole area was completely covered in sand. The only thing you could see otherwise was behind them; the town that they had just left.
“I don’t understand why we must leave at the peak of noon!” Kyreil exclaimed.
Even Hanou agreed “No birds would fly this way, and I know we won’t find our friends here,”
Kyreil and Hanou were separated from their companions during a snowstorm in their previous days, when they and their comrades were going to leave to search for what was stolen from their kingdom.
“You can’t always be sure of that Kyreil,” Kyra smirked, pulling her hood over her head tighter, ebonite curls flung loosely, others tucked in with the rest of her hair.
“The desert was created because of the drain of magic, so they could have gone there to look for it,”
Hanou sighed, Kyreil mumbled quietly and dumped a bucket of water over his head.
“Kyreil!” Hanou yelled, but Kyreil threw the bucket over Hanou, it landed on her head. It still had some water in it.
The black hair boy started to run, as Hanou chased after him.
“Again?” Kyra voiced, giving a tired smile. Children are more restless than running water.
“I don’t get why you are smiling, but we just lost a bunch of water right there,” Alex points out
Kyra scoffed “I come from a frozen tundra, magic to conjure up water is essential,”

Two days after, they were in the center of the desert. It was getting dark and cooler.
Kyra collapsed to sit down.
“Are you okay? You look like a brick hit you on the head,” Hanou pulled a blanket over herself, giving Kyra one too.
“Perhaps,” Kyra mumbles “If I didn’t use so much magic, I would feel better…”
Snores could be heard as soon as she finished. Kyreil and Hanou looked at each other, then at Alex.
“I don’t use magic, but what is with tiring after long extended uses of magic?” Hanou questions the blue eyed boy.
“Magic tires you out because too much usage muddles the mind,” Alex was reading a book.
“So even if you are physically fit, if you tire out in the mind, you’d pass out like a pebble,” he finished, flipping a page in his book.
“…What?” Kyreil wished it was simpler, then thought “…I’ll stick with arrow shooting,” He pulls his cloak over his face.
“Kyra passed out that fast? With two water conjurers?” Hanou turns to her side “I would probably kill myself trying to make a feather float in the air,”

After everyone fell asleep, Kyra stopped her fake snoring. She looked at Hanou; who was mumbling about something in her sleep.
“I doubt that,” Kyra whispered “ You’re pretty intelligent…hmm,”
Looking up at the copper rose full moon. She listens to the calls of coyotes. A silver cerulean hue flew by it; a sliver of azure glitter followed the thing.
Found you Azuráel. Kyra’s eyes shine the same turquoise the creature was giving off.
Your lovely feathers will be in my hand soon darling…
