Yet another resource for RP characters, mine and otherwise, this is a quick list of general terms that can be used to describe styles and roles in combat for your characters. Most of these definitions are not mine, and are averaged from their appearances in various forms of media. Terminology listed in no particular order, I may fix that someday.

Temperments

Cautious - Duh? Cautious. Take things slow, be methodical. No unnecessary energy.

Aggressive - The best offense is a good offense pretty much sums up 'Aggressive' combatants.

Assertive - Assertive combatants are not quite aggressive, but still do not let up. Typically allowing for more give and take.


Roles

Tactician - Tacticians are observant, and do their best to analyze a situation before entering into it. They are calculating and quick-witted, but rarely if ever the first to act without assured superiority.

Strategist - Strategists take tactics to the extreme, avoiding direct contact at all costs. They prefer engagements from range, utilizing others more suited to direct combat to accomplish their designs. Not to say that in a pinch a strategist couldn't hold their own - they just prefer to not get pinched.

Blitzer - Blitzers charge in head on and attack, dodge, attack. They are by definition aggressive, but there is enough variation in the technique of a 'blitz' that you still see a range of categories. Blitzers often specialize in close combat or small ranged weapons like pistols.

Berserker - Berserkers are very similar to Blitzers, but there is no dodge. There is only Attack, Attack, ATTACK! Berserkers are little more than living weapons in combat, requiring little incentive beyond pointing them in the general direction of the enemy to unleash hell.

Brawler - Brawlers are close combat specialists that primarily use their bare hands and bodies to dominate their foes one at a time. Wrestling, boxing, judo - these and more are martial arts favored by Brawlers.
