~A small biography of Vanilla Nightrail~

Vanilla Nightrail was a young boy with a unique magic prowess who hailed from an alternate universe where all "humans" had some type or form of fox ears and tail(s). Furthermore, any other appearance, i.e our ears and the lack of a fox tail, would be considered the people as supernatural otherworldly entities. The kingdom Vanilla was born in was known as the Kingdom of Foxy and is currently ruled by the late King Angelo Foxy II with it's citizens known as Foxians. There are other kingdoms, towns and cities within their world, but the Foxy Kingdom was considered the capitol country due to it's unique technology of crossing into different dimensions and worlds.

Vanilla's family were aristocrats of the kingdom and his father, Blanche Nightrail, was a royal mage loyal to his King Angelo Foxy I. However, after Queen Seiko Foxy killed her husband (and truthfully her son/grandson/etc) by sacrificing him in an immortality ritual she used for several past generations Blanche betrayed the Queen. However, his betrayal resulted in the almost complete assassination of his family, including himself, save for the youngest child Vanilla and his slightly older cousin Ginger. Vanilla and Ginger were forced to live separately for their safety thus Vanilla grew up in the slums of the Kingdom until he was saved be a kitsune from another world by the name of Ran.

Ran took Vanilla in and with the help of the runaway prince, Angelo Foxy II, they escaped to Ran's home world. They were safe for a time until Angelo's mother and wife-to-be Queen Seiko finally found them and started a war with both their worlds. Sometime after the events where Angelo Foxy II finally overthrew his mother's reign and succeed his coronation as King, Vanilla was finally able to go back to his home world and study magic just like his father; leaving his lover and Ran's older brother, Yoru, behind. When Vanilla returned to the other world to once again be with his boyfriend the separation somehow caused them to be more distant than Vanilla expected ending with Yoru abruptly breaking their relationship. This act placed Vanilla in a state of confusion, loneliness, and sadness.

In an attempt to escape the pain Vanilla left both worlds to reside in the world of Gaia. Sadly, still being unable to take the stress of the lost and in addition to the seemingly lack of honesty in the environment and society around himself, Vanilla resorted to using a forbidden spell that summons forth his inner darkness; an entity that called itself Erebus. Vanilla's resolution was to disappear, both soul and body, forever in the darkness.

After Erebus stayed with Leiri for some time Vanilla's consciousness was revived by Erebus' own decision. After Vanilla himself got to meet the princess, he found a new raison d'etre, in which cause a slight argument with Erebus, but in the end the two decided to "coexist" with one another. Unsurprisingly the coexistence often confused other Gaians into thinking Erebus was bipolar if they did not know the full explanation.

The unusual circumstance of their duel existence caused Erebus and Vanilla have physically fused together in ways beyond the contract or Erebus would have predicted and, for a time, even though Erebus still controlled the body, as displayed both visually and consciously, the appearance of the vessel still had Vanilla's tail and ears before Vanilla finally became dormant and Erebus took full control.

*You placed the papers the biography was written on down and took a deep sigh thinking about how not "small" the information actually was. At least it wasn't a novel right?*

~A page from the book of Erebus: Shapeshifter of Darkness~

Erebus is apparition of darkness who's preincarnation was the God of Darkness of the same name. In an undated time from the past Erebus was torn into pieces to be use as a component to animate/create the Children of Gaia, in other words most earthly living beings that exist in the universes with the remaining "pieces" serving as the unsentimental essences and states of darkness and the darkness that cloaks its son, Thanatos, or Hell. Since Erebus, or darkness, exists within every heart it would therefore be best not to consider it a being, but an essence-like species. The strength of each Erebus depends on the strength of the individual heart. The weaker or more prone the heart is to darkness, the stronger and more out of control the Erebus within is. The forced division of the Erebus' being makes it impossible for the God to become whole again as it would require everything to return to zero, or the original void. However still, like broken glass there may be some his essence(s) that has been permanently lost.

There are many known (and unknown) spells to summon different forms of Erebus and the one the young Foxian mage, Vanilla Nightrail, used was a forbidden spell that originated from his world.The spell summons the darkness within one's own heart and it is dangerous due to its "equivalent exchange"; a pact made with the darkness sacrificing the summoner's body and soul. If the summoner's heart is too strong or the darkness is too weak the spell may fail but, if the summoner's heart is too weak the summoner is devoured completely instead.

Since Vanilla's heart fell into despair he was able to successfully summon his inner darkness also due to his heart's pure innocence, he was not devoured and even though his Erebus took possession of his body Vanilla's consciousness still somewhere deep within. Originally his Erebus, who came to be as Erebus Nightrail, planned to use Vanilla's body explore the world whilst gradually devouring his host's soul from the inside since the latter's depression led him to willingly give his soul to Erebus. However, upon meeting a Princess by the name of Leiri Darkfangs, Erebus somehow gained a "heart" or compassion and ceased his desire to devour his summoner's soul. It is unknown whether the "feelings" bloomed from his host's heart or if it actually stemmed from himself.

As time progressed, Vanilla's and Erebus' "coexistence" resulted in a unusual fusion where Erebus is more or less still in control of the body, mostly due to the pact's agreement, but he now a lot more docile to the point where he is unrecognized to most of his followers save for the Blood Rose Clan. Erebus still shape shifts, however is most commonly seen with black hair and a shade of blue or purple eyes.

Erebus Nightrail currently still desires to serve and protect Leiri. This is partly due to her being the cause his rare change of heart and partly due to the fact that he fears the inevitable ricochet that would occur if he was suddenly separated from her... Nonetheless the prolonged period of being away from his natural realm is gradually weakening him thus making him more "human".
