I just returned from a roadtrip with my two friends. It was probably one of the best experiences of my all my 18 years.
We went to Washington, DC last Tuedsday for three days and did stuff. My favorite thing there was the International Spy Museum. Seriously, if you get the chance, you should probably go. We also saw all that other stuff, like the Declaration of Independence, the Lincoln Monument, the White House. You know, nothing important. We also sat in on the Senate. They were debating raising minimum wage. It was pretty sad, because only one guy was for it and talking about it, and no one was paying attention. It didn't pass.
Then we went to Baltimore for a day and went to the Book Thing, which is like a used bookstore, except all the books are free. Sweet. Then we saw Edgar Allen Poe's house, which was pretty cool.
Then Sunday we went to New York City and spent the night. We took a bus from Washington, and it was a smelly bus. And we took the subway around, which is very noisy. That's not important though. What is important is that we went to see the musical Chicago on Broadway that night. It was incredible. Afterwards we were waiting by the stage doors to get autographs, and we got two, but not Rita Wilson's. Rita Wilson, if you didn't know, is Tom Hanks' wife, and she was playing Roxie (it was her last show that night). So she walked out and we were going to hand her our playbills to sign, then all of a sudden we hear screaming and about FIVE FEET away from me is TOM HANKS taking pictures of his wife! And it was so cute, he was smiling, and then they jumped into their SUV and their son made a face at us, and they drove away. We did get pictures of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, but that is why we didn't get her autograph. Still, how amazing is that?
Lets see . . . the following morning we stood outside the ABC news studio and apparantly could be seen on TV for a moment. Then we went to the Today Show and saw Matt Lauer, but nobody could find us in the crowd on TV, so that was kind of sad. We went to Chinatown and Little Italy later, and then got back on the bus to Washington. We had to walk to the hostel we booked for that night, which meant walking up a highway in a thunderstorm, near a correctional facility. It was fun. :]
And we drove back yesterday! I just feel like travelling some more though.
