lol, I probably sound like an evil writing nazi when it comes to writing. No wonder it is so hard to find good partners who last for a long time... I can say that I have found a small few here on Gaia over the years.
This meme was stolen from A Roleplayer's Meme.
IT'S ALL ABOUT-- 1. You! Introduce yourself. Also, tell us your favourite genre of RP. I am Eleanora_Hoshi, but most people just call me Ella and my best friends call me Tree. I am willing do do just about any genre as long as my partner/s keep active and creative and are willing to help me come up with ideas or help pull me through writer's block if needed. I am usually attracted to fantasy, medieval, adventure, romance, and fan-based that I like, though. 2. How long have you been roleplaying for? Seriously, I have no idea. o.o I would estimate that I have been roleplaying on Gaia... since... sometime during the first half of 2006... Maybe late 2005. Outside of the internet, I have been roleplaying all my life. 3. What is the best RP you've ever been in? What made it so awesome? The only RP that I am in right now is the best one I've ever been in. It is called In Cages and is a Fruits Basket based RP. It is the longest running RP I've ever been in and some of my fellow RPers in it have even become real life penpals of sorts. 4. What's your favorite thing about roleplaying? Your least favorite? My favorite thing about roleplaying is getting the chance to work with other writers to create a story. It keeps me on my toes, because I know I have the responsibility of replying. I hate when my partner starts lacking in creativity and typing less and less each time. I can only type as much as I am given to work with. I also hate how real life issues can cause roleplays to die because one or more partners are unable to log on. Some people have such awful memories and lack inspiration to continue after a break. 5. Tell us about your favorite RP character. What are they like? My favorite roleplay character is the one that I have been using all my life. She is an Elf Princess with the same name as myself. She is the heir to the Elven Empire and it is her duty as the Princess Heir to prove to her people that she is worthy. Her spirit was sent through a portal by the Faeries (servants of their goddess Fate) to the human realm so that she could learn all about them. When her human body dies, her spirit will be sent back to her Elven body back in the realm from which she came and then all the races of the land can finally rid themselves of the human race (which did not belong there and came in through some portal many years before) once and for all. 6. Who is your writing inspiration? I have been inspired to write since I first held a book in my hands. I look to my two best friends when I need help breaking a writer's block. My favorite author is Tamora Pierce.
(DIS)LIKES -- 7. Canon or original? Doesn't really matter. For canons, only if I like what it is being based off of. I never use canon characters, though. I am too afraid of butchering their character to try. 8. Profiles or no profiles? Profiles are a great way to know what kind of roleplay you are getting yourself into. Just because you know all about the other characters doesn't mean that your character does. 9. Premades or free reign? It mostly depends on what kind of roleplay and relationship with the other characters my character would have. If my character is entering into a roleplay where she should know about other characters, then the detailed profiles are very useful in keeping their relationship more realistic. For roleplays in which a bunch of people are thrown together and aren't supposed to know anything about each other, free reign is good. 10. Villains or heroes? I have a tendency to roleplay heroes or neutral characters, but I have recently found a liking of RPing darker characters. 11. Favourite race? Elves are my people, they are above all other races on the list of favorites. 12. Favourite weapon? Blades are the best. Swords, daggers, throwing knives, katanas, claws... Yeah... Blades are good. But so is the weapon of words. Manipulation rocks. 13. Love scenes or fight scenes? Anything but long fight scenes in which I have to participate in is fine with me.
WE BE STYLIN' -- 14. Do you come up with new characters for each RP or re-use a handful of your best? I usually create a new character if entering a roleplay, but I do keep a list of all the characters I have created for roleplays in case anyone would like for me to use them. If a roleplay is similar enough, then I may edit something about a character and reuse it. Names are commonly re-used for me. The only character that I re-use a lot is my character Cyrilious, as he was my first male character and the only one of my male characters I feel comfortable RPing often.. 15. Do you use pictures for your characters? If so, what kind? If not, why not? I prefer having a picture so that I can remember what my character looks like without having to read a description. It also makes it easier to find things to write about in replies when you can see a picture image. I usually use anime/manga pictures, but I will use a realistic picture if I feel like it or it is desired of my partner/s. I see anime/manga pictures as a safer way, as using celebrities might make a person a bit confused because their unconscious mind would be telling them something else and using other people's faces... is kinda rude. 16. Post formatting! Do you do it? What does your typical post format have in it? Special formats keep it interesting! A wall of text is boring. The way a person formats their replies helps to understand the person and the character better. I always format my posts to help resemble part of my character's personality. Its a form of psychology, in a way. Anyways, I usually have the picture off to one side, facing the text if the character is nice, facing away if the character is not or just mysterious. Gives off a sense that they don't want to be there, you know? Unless the picture is looking straight out, then I put it wherever. For characters that turn into animals, I will put a small picture of the animal form on the opposite side. For ones that are snakes or koi fish, I made myself a cool format where they kinda take up the top and side... But I had to cut the picture into two pieces to do it. I like putting the name at the top and lately I have been putting in little quotes that I feel are part of the character's personality. I always use a color that would fit their personality for my posts. It also helps find my posts easier. 17. OH GOD THERE'S NO QUESTION HERE QUICK THINK OF SOMETHING. I hate it when people are illiterate and don't try to write well! Sure, the point of writing is entertainment, but some of us are writing Nazis and it annoys the heck out of us (and hurts some of us inside) to see people butchering the written language so! I avoid such partners at all costs... and end roleplays when I find a partner doing it too often. I don't care how interesting the roleplay is. When my mind is seeing mistake after mistake after mistake and butchering my beloved written language, it hurts too much to continue reading.
