Ronnie James Dio has departed from this god-forsaken plane of existence. His music is legacy. Hell, I don't remember the last time I changed my Myspace name thingy from "Rainbow in the Dark." His sordid lyrics were the foundation of Metal. Without his inspiration, Metal as we know it would not ******** exist. Solo, in Rainbow, in Black Sabbath... This dude is a goddamn legend. All the old-school headbangers know what I'm talking about. How many freaking times have you been pissed off, out of your freaking skull, and felt better after cranking "Last in Line?" And that psycho demon guy that adorns the cover of pretty much every album Dio ever made? That guy is ******** awesome.
The video for Holy Diver is ******** hysterical, especially when you're stoned. That episode of South-Park when he makes a cameo is even more so. The countless interviews, concerts, Behind-the-scenes bullshit... All of it is amazing. Such is his impact on pop culture. Think about that next time you rant and rave about how awesome some stupid flash in the pan novelty band is. *cough* AS I LAY DYING* cough* Even the crap that's suicide inducingly lame most of the time, such as cheap cartoon appearances and corny interviews, were made totally Metal by Dio. Let's see your precious Tim Lambesis do that.
