Alrighty, first entry evar!! w00t! this is from "Shade" tell me what you think biggrin
"Sissy, wait up!" The little girl hollered.
"Catch me if you can!" Her sister called back.
Shade was jealous of them. They had free will, not a care in life. They're biggest problem was what to have for dinner. And the fact that they were about to die. But they didn't know that. Death is unpredictable. No one could know when they were going to die.
That is, except for Shade. It just doesn't count, though. It couldn't possibly count if you're told when it's going to happen by Death itself.
Shade sighed and stepped forward out of the shadows. She didn't enjoy her job. But she made a deal with the Devil. Literally.
The two girls stopped immediately and stared at Shade, wide-eyed.
"Sissy, who is she?" The younger of the two girls asked.
Shade closed her eyes and concentrated on reading their minds. The older one was called Sarah and the younger Kerry. Apparently, Kerry is three and Sarah is six. Yes, these are who she was looking for. She's not sure why Death chose these two to die, they had their whole lives ahead of them and they looked innocent enough. But she's not supposed to question orders.
Shade usually goes with the quick deaths for the young and/or innocent. She opened her eyes and warped over to the girls. Warping looks a little bit like black mist appearing from nowhere and enveloping her, then dissappearing and reappearing in the place where she wants to warp to, bringing her with it.
Sarah grabbed Kerry and put her behind her back. Even though she's only six, Shade couldn't help but admire her protection over her sister.
Shade easily grabbed Sarah and snapped her neck, then let her lifeless body fall to the ground. Kerry screamed and started to run away, but Shade sent shadows after her, they enveloped her arms and legs and dragged her back. Shade snapped her neck quickly, mostly to stop the terror.
Shade called more shadows to carry the two girls' bodies to the nearest river. Once there, she positioned them so that it looked like they fell in and broke their necks on a rock.
There was a sudden gasp coming from the place where Shade was a second ago. She turned her head calmly to see a boy standing there, his eyes wide and his mouth a comical "O" shape. It made her smirk. Something she hadn't done in a while.
He looked about fourteen, with tussled blonde hair and piercing blue eyes that put the sky to shame. He looked a little bit like Sarah and Kerry, perhaps he was their brother.
"What did you just do to my sisters?" The boy cried, confirming her suspicions.
Shade just shook her head. This apparently made him mad, because he lunged at her, his hand closing into a fist.
She warped away at the very last second, then reappeared behind him, putting her hand over his mouth.
She shoved her mouth near his ear and hissed, "Congratulations. Death will know about this. You should have just stayed away, but now you have to die. You're lucky I have pity, so I'm not going to kill you now. But don't worry, your time will come. Sooner than anyone would've hoped."
He started struggling. Shade was impressed that he dared to do that. She flexed her arm, and he shot forward and crashed into a tree.
He moaned slightly and turned his head slowly to face her, his lip bleeding. "Evil..."
Shade sauntered over to him and crouched down to his eye level. "Pity you have to die," She ran her fingers through his hair, "Good looks don't come to everyone."
He swatted her hand away and Shade dismissed it with a laugh. This boy was on a roll, making her smile and laugh. It really was a pity that he had to die.
"Remember," She looked him seriously in the eye, "The more people you tell, the more people have to die."
She raised her arms over her head and warped back to her "cell", as she liked to call it.
