It's very scarily, deathly stormy out here today. There is all the lightening and tornado fun you could ever want in life (yes, tornadoes; it's a North American problem haha). My family is home, so there's one blessing. We can all die together -_- I've prayed that if and when I die, instead of floating aimlessly, the part of the one God that is Hel will take me rather than some more malicious portion of our almighty creator. That's uh, H-E-L for you confused Christians out there. Or Hela for those of Germanic origin. She's absolutely splendid; she's a norse deity that receives those who die of disease, injury, or famine (basically non-combat) and allows them to rest in her realm until they are reborn. She's also supposedly Loki's daughter, born of a jotun (frost giant) mother. Fenris, the mighty wolf and Jormungandr, the world serpent are her direct brothers and she has had other half siblings thanks to Loki's somewhat promiscuous behavior. Can anyone tell I'm rambling to distract myself? Haha.... Hel is depicted as a woman with one side entirely white and one side entirely black or one side beautiful and young and the other side dead and skeletal. This is to symbolize how she is supposedly always with "one foot in the grave" or, possibly, a representation of the transition from maiden to crone, the passing of time. Some believe her personality is dead and flat, or that she has a sort of bipolar/split personality as shown in her physical manifestation, but I've always thought she is just rather patient, with both the ability to be kind, and show mercy, but also a sort of sternness that makes her act mercilessly. Just like death >.> So... Have fun and be safe, everybody! I'll just sit and rock back and forth until the storm passes. crying
