Augustina loves but two things - thrill and power. And with no surprise, it's in her blood after all.
Centuries ago, her great great great grandmother, a witch, found herself lying with a demon. Months later, Augustina's great great grandfather, Taman Pergande, the half fiend was born. Taman, being gods' abimination, did not find peace wherever he went. So in favour, he brought misery to those around him. Thus finding Augustina's great great grandmother Tatiana.
Tatiana lived by herself, hiding away from villages, after being accused of lying with married men and witchcraft. The half-fiend and the outcast eventually formed a bond, both being unwelcome in the society, they found each others company comforting. And their hate for everyone else, only made them stronger. In time, the two of them had a daughter, Nadezhda.
The girl had only a fraction of her father in her, that only started showing later in life. She had the keen senses, amazing skill with magic, and strength. Unfortunately she also inherited some of his inhuman features. Beautiful as she was, she had to find ways how to hide her abnormally spiky spine, the tough and sharp claws on her feet and hands. The tiny protruding horns, that she filed down almost to nothing every time they grew, and hid the rest with hair or shawls. And the worst - her eyes, that were as red as hot coals. Eventually, Nadezhda developed her magical abilities enough to create illusions for herself, helping her finally blend into the crowd. Later on, she used her newly enhanced magical abilities to seduce a count, and eventually marry him. Once she gave birth to a child, a daughter, Nadezhda vanished, leaving her husband with the child.

Elanna's a sorceress, who is very much obsessed with research. Experiments are probably her favourite pastime. Her workplace is usually an organised chaos. To the eye of anyone else, it's a complete mess, but she will know exactly where everything is. She's a rather private person, and hates distractions from her work.
Elanna, however, is a good person, and a very useful friend to have. She's loyal and will aid another without hesitation. But I wouldn't go as far as calling her social. She will enjoy a soiree now and again, but she's far from being the life of the party. It takes her time to open herself up a bit, as she can be quite paranoid, and gets ideas that people are after her and her research.
