This is an introduction to my other major story right now. For those of you who are one of the rabid fangirls that attack me every morning, you must read this! ^^ This takes place when the two of them are about ten years old. Raishi and Naniku have known eachother for about two years now. (Note: The main story takes place when they're about 15 or 16)
Saturday ~ 12:42 pm (Raishi) “Look it’s a lake!” Naniku tugged on my shirtsleeve. “Do you want to go see?” “Umm… Naniku, I don’t think it’s safe.” I held on to his hand and tried to persuade him to go back. We had ventured too far off the road. “But, Raishi!!!” Naniku whimpered and looked at me with sad eyes. I sighed, “Ok, but you’re older than me by two weeks! You should know better!” “We’re both ten so it doesn’t matter!” he exclaimed. “I’ve known you for so long,” I said angrily, “ and we STILL manage to get in trouble.” I proceeded to frown. “Come on! It’ll be fun!” He pulled on my hand, leading me to the lake.
Saturday ~ 3:23 pm (Raishi) “Wow! It’s so pretty!” I spread my arms out wide. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The deep blue water shimmered with mysterious radiance. “Raishi! Watch this!” Naniku skipped a rock across the water. It jumped four times before going down with a ‘ka-plunk.’ I stared in wonder. “How did you do THAT?” “Your eyes are practically bulging from your head!” Naniku laughed at me. “Don’t laugh!” I tried not to laugh as I yelled at him. I hit his arm and my face turned red. Pretty soon I gave up and just laughed with him. “That was so cool!” Naniku blushed. He took another rock and rubbed it around in his hands. “Do you wanna learn how?” He found the rock satisfactory and threw it across the water. This one skipped five times. “Yes! It’s so cool!” I picked up a rock and handed it to Naniku. “Do you think this one is good?” He took it from my hands and weighed it in his own. “Before you try throwing anything, I’ll show you how to pick out a rock.” He pointed to this rock’s width. “Raishi, this rock is too wide. You need to find a flat one.” He handed the rock back to me and I looked at it. It was very wide and jagged. “See this one?” He handed me another rock. “It needs to be flat and smooth.” I nodded and took the rock. “Look for another one like it.” I searched the ground and saw a rock that looked satisfactory. When I reached for it, it seemed different from the other rocks. Most of the rocks were warm from baking in the sun all day. This one wasn’t like the others. It was very cold. Like ice. In fact, when I took a closer look, it had a symbol of crystals on it. I stuck it in my pocket and kept looking. Then I found another rock that was flat and smooth, so I handed it to Naniku. I watched as he inspected the rock. He looked up at me with a grin. “This one’s good!” His eyes sparkled as he said it. I smiled back at him. “So what do I do next?” “Watch!” He held the rock at a sideways angle. Then he pulled his hand back, and with a swinging motion, he threw the rock across the lake. It jumped farther than before and sunk down with a ‘plunk’. “You should try now.” He picked up another rock on the ground and handed it to me. I tried throwing it, but it went down with a huge splash. Naniku laughed at me and I blushed violent red. “That’s not funny!” I was angry and my face was red. Naniku kept laughing. He had practically fallen on the ground shaking and laughing so hard he was choking from lack of air. “You’re so mean!” I ran off into the woods.
Saturday ~ 3:58 pm (Naniku) “Where is she?” I was scared. I shouldn’t have laughed at her. Then maybe she wouldn’t have run away. Raishi had run off somewhere in the forest while I was laughing. I wiped a tear off my cheek. “Raishi… Where are you?!”
Saturday ~ 4:37 pm (Raishi) “Naniku!!!” I called out into the open forest. “Can you hear me?!” I sat down on the ground and wiped my wet face. I’m so lost… I thought.
(Naniku) “Raishi!!!” I could’ve just sworn I heard her voice! “I can hear you! I’m over here!” “Naniku?” It was a faint sound far off in the distance. “Stay where you are!” I started sprinting towards the voice. “I’m coming!” I found her crying, her back leaning against a big tree. “I’m so sorry…” I helped her get up. “Do you want to go home now?” “Wait…” She reached for something in her pocket. She handed me a blue rock. It was extremely cold and had a strange design on it. “It’s for you.” “Are you sure?” I tried to put the rock back in her hand. “You should keep it. It’s very pretty.” She shook her head. “No, thank you for looking for me.” She pressed the rock into my hand and smiled. It was cute. “Please keep it!” “Ok then… Well, do you want to go home?” “Not yet… do you still want to show me how?” I smiled and took her hand to follow me.
Saturday ~ 4:56 pm (Raishi) Naniku showed me how to throw it one more time. I studied him carefully as he let go of the rock. “ I think I get it now.” “Do you want to try it then?” “Ok.” I took another rock off of the ground and threw it like Naniku had. This time, instead of a big splash, it kicked up the water lightly as it skimmed the lake’s surface. “Yay!” I screamed gleefully as I watched the rock fly. “Wow! That was amazing!” “Can I try again?” “Ok!” I picked up another rock and threw it. It bounded cheerfully across the water. “I’m gonna try to throw this rock!” Naniku held up the blue stone. It shimmered as if delighted from the mentioned offer. “Well… I guess you could try… It’s your rock now.” He looked happy, but before he threw it he said, “I bet this one will go the farthest.” He threw the stone so hard it bounced across the lake like it was made of rubber. We looked at each other and laughed. “That was SO cool!” I said as I high-fived the still laughing Naniku. All of a sudden he stopped laughing. “Whoa. What is that?” Naniku was pointing to the lake water. The blue stone was bouncing back and every drop of water it hit became ice. “I don’t know. This is really weird. Do you want to throw it again?” “Ok…” Naniku tried again, but the same thing happened, because even though he threw it with all his might, the third stone came skipping back. “Wow!” Naniku exclaimed. “Raishi, this is so cool! Thank you so much!” I smiled as we walked home. “I guess the lake didn’t totally suck after all?” Naniku was waiting for a reply. I smiled, nodded, and hugged him.
Saturday ~ 6:24 pm (Naniku) So I guess today wasn’t a total loss. I thought as I bid Raishi goodbye. She waved at me, beaming. I waved back as she ran up the stairs of her dad’s apartment in Tokyo. “So, Naniku,” Yasuzu asked. Yasuzu is my foster brother. He’s only a few months younger than me, but that doesn’t stop him from acting immature around the clock. “I take it today was good?” “Yeah. The best ever.” I thought to myself. Yasuzu looked at me funny and turned to face the street as we waited for Raven to come pick us up.
