This day in history would have been another normal day. An average dreary rainy day in the land of the free. Yet it wasn't for one boy of a mere fifteen years spent living in this world.
On this particular day, Alvar, for that is his name, was working on his service hours with the rest of his classmates. The class had decided almost unanimously to spend the day at the hospital, cheering up the patients. It would have been unanimous, but Alvar had voted that they simply have a free day to work on whatever they chose. In other words he would have done nothing at all, even though they had a paper due in the near future. It could even be written on whatever topic they felt like writing on. Not a soul could explain his laziness and poor attitude.
After getting his room assignment from one of the nurses, he headed off. She said she had to check on a patient before she would join him. Of course all the students had to be supervised. Alvar paid little attention to the room numbers. He came to the room and opened the door.
The sight of a normal hospital room greeted him. A girl about the same age was lying in the bed. She appeared to be completely out of it. She was wired up to many machines. Alvar had seen the same type of wrigging when he visited his comatose uncle.
"Must be in the wrong room..." he muttered as he turned to leave. Alvar leapt back suddenly as he had come nearly an inch away from a girl his height. She had chin length cheasnut colored hair, and large scrutinizing emerald green eyes.
"You can see me?" She spoke in utter surprise.
After giving her an odd look he replied. "uh, yeah."
"Oh! Then you must be the one they sent!" She looked him over quickly. "Tall, slender, shabby brown hair with a hint of blonde that's slightly longer than most guys. Brown eyes. Ooh, not muscular I see, I'll have to keep note of that. Otherwise I suppose you'll do. On first sight, I assumed you were just a normal boy from this world. Right well, look at the time. Let's go!"
At that moment, Alvar realized the girl wasn't all there. She was slightly transparent. The girl reached forward with her right hand. He watched startled as it went into his wrist. He suddenly felt like something had grabbed hold of his soul and was yanking hard, before he realized it, he was jerked forward and a thud came from behind him. Alvar turned and looked down. The girl watched him for a second.
"It's just your physical body. There's nothing really that special about it."
"What the heck have you done to me?! I'm not in my body, that's not normal!"
"Uh oh... your not the one they sent from the agency, are you?" The girl seemed vaguely concerned now.
"What agency?! I don't know what you're talking about!!"
"Too late now, you'll just have to do."
"What are you talking about?"
"Say goodbye to your world, you might not see it again for a while!"
"Where are you taking me?!"
She turned and gave him s mischivious grin. "Where else, but to the portal."
Alvar was quizzical. "The portal?"
"The portal to another world."
