Lindsay Lohan's mom defends daughter
Lindsay Lohan's mother has come to the defense of her rehabbed daughter.
Dina Lohan blasted Brandon Davis — the oil heir who branded her daughter “firecrotch.”
“I know Brandon. I know his mother. A beautiful woman. You know, if her son went off and went dark? Whatever he did, he did, and it was bad and it was disgusting,” Dina Lohan told the upcoming Harper’s Bazaar, suggesting that Davis' bad behavior may have been the result of his parents’ troubled marriage. “He doesn’t have a dad who was always there. I don’t judge someone until I walk in his shoes. His mother was hurt by his father. My ex did that to me. And what does that do to a kid? That hurts him. So how does he have a relationship?”
Dina Lohan had kinder words for Davis' sometimes girlfriend, Paris Hilton.
“Paris Hilton’s mom was wonderfully embracing to me. You know, you can’t blame parents for kids, and Paris is a really smart girl, and she’s come really far,” Lohan said. “They’re the American dream. They’re the Trumps of the little world, these kids.”
Then she pointed out that Hilton is 26 years old, while her daughter is 20. “Lindsay at 26 is not going to clubs!” she practically shouted. “She’s not. It’s just not happening.”
Feeling sorry for Britney
Sandra Bernhard has long made jokes about Britney Spears, but now the comic is finding sympathy for the troubled pop star. And she also blames the parents.
“I’ve been doing pieces on Britney for quite a while now, and I find her kind of a touchstone in culture, and I have a great deal of empathy for her,” Bernhard told the Buffalo News. “I think she was basically co-opted by her parents at a very young age, forced into this business. And it’s not completely her fault that she’s flipping out.”
The comic says that Spears’ problems may date back to her years as a Mouseketeer.
“Having an 8-year-old kid myself, and knowing the vulnerability of a child and being thrown into that disgusting, slimy world of Disney. I mean, I can’t think of a more horrible thing to do to your child,” Bernhard says.
Bernhard is not a fan of “American Idol,” either, calling the hit show “banal and horrible” and had unkind words for judge Simon Cowell. “He’s just pathetic,” she said. “He’s like a greasy, stinky Englishman. He’s disgusting.”
Notes from all over
LaKisha Jones, who sang "Diamonds Are Forever" on Tuesday's "Idol," was wearing $1 million worth of borrowed platinum and diamond jewelry on the show, including a $250,000 brooch in her hair. . . . One of Michael Jackson’s brothers, the former Jermaine Jackson, who is now called Abdul Aziz, is visiting Bangladesh to visit a Muslim aid operation there. . . . Madonna’s book about peer pressure among young girls, “The English Roses,” was somewhat inspired by her daughter Lourdes — and was a best seller. Now that she has both a biological and adopted son, the former Material Girl is considering writing an adventure book about young boys.
