I always feel I can't relate to anyone on terms of music, most of my friends have scarcely heard of Less than Jake, Fallout Boy or any of the bands I listen too. Come to think of it, they've never even heard of Ska...
They all listen to Nu-metal, and rock music cause I guess they think you're cool for listening to that and if you listen to anything else you're a p***y. They're all so bias in that if you say you don't like metal, their jaws drop and they get all pissed at you.
It's not like metal's the only genre of music worth listening too, personally nu-metal all sounds the same to me, as a matter of fact, there's only one nu-metal band that I like and that's Linkin Park, and coincidentally, it's the only band me and my friends agree about.
Nu-metal's alright, like Breaking Benjamin and System of a down, but I like ska better because it's more fast-paced and I like the drum beats better than in any other bands.
Punk music is alright, namely Fallout Boy, but all the rest have sold their soul to MTV. The true punk bands were The Ramones, The Clash, and The Sex Pistols, but when I mention punk bands, my friends name bands like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Blink 182.
I like other bands, namely the genre 'alternative', like Goo Goo Dolls, Eve6, Vertical Horizon, and ZebraHead. Which my friends have never heard of either. I guess MTV is what tells everyone what to listen to, and what's cool...but I like to find my own bands, cause all those MTV One-hit bands will eventually disappear off the face of the planet like N-SYNC, the Backstreet boys, and The Baha Men.
