The Drama That My Life Holds
I Didn't Know What To Do....
It was around 11 PM when I fell asleep last night. It was the first time in days that I've gone to bed early. I was glad I went to bed this early, for I had school tomorrow. Which, I haven't been going for the past month, for no reason. So, I wanted to get a good night's sleep. And I did sleep. Very peacefully too. I wasn't woken up by the puppy or one of my cats. Everything in my house was calm.
Until, 4 AM came along.

I heard this faint, but strong noise in my dreams. As if it was a herd of rhinos, stampeding across the horizon. But, the thunderous noise was getting closer, and close, and closer. So close, it was as if the rhinos were running over me. So close, that my eyes shot open from my dreams. I sat up in my bed dazed, and confused. I knew that sound was real... It had to come from something in my house. But what? Was it the puppy trying to get out of his cadge? Or maybe it was the cats, chasing each other around the house. Before I could think any further, I heard a piercing cry above my room. It came from the kitchen. Then, I heard stomping. Like the person in the kitchen was kicking the floor. Another ear-splitting cry was released, but I could identify the creator this time.
It was someone very close to me, and was in excruciating pain.

I ran up my basement steps so fast, that it sounded like I was the herd of rhinos stampeding. I turned the corner out of the hallway, and entered the kitchen. My mom stood by the sink gargling salt water or some kind of colorless drink. Her night gown was drenched by a mixture of her sweat, tears, and water. I rushed over to her, and asked her what was wrong. She replied something that I couldn't understand. I stood there, puzzled and worried, having no clue of what was wrong with my mother. She pointed to the right side of her face. I, then, knew it had to be her tooth. Because she is lactose intolerant, her calcium in her body is very low. In that, she has very bad teeth. And every now and again, her right side of her teeth causes her much pain. I stood in front of my mother, terrified. I knew her history of tooth pain, but this time it was different. This time, it was worse. She let out a third scream, and ran upstairs to the bathroom. She started gargling the Listerine mouth wash. When that didn't work, she went for the vodka. I told her that I read once that vodka and whiskey helps with tooth aches. Unfortunately, that didn't help either. I just stood there like a tree.
Not moving, not sure of what to do...

To make matters worse, she started to shake. Seeing her in so much pain, and being able to doing something about it, made my throat close and became hard. The pain just would go away. What was I suppose to do? I don't know anything about teeth. Minutes past... Nothing changed. Her pain seemed worse than what it was five minutes ago. So, I made a choice. I ran down stairs into the living room, and called my grandmother. She told me to compress a hot cloth on her face where the pain is. So, I did. It helped a little, but I told my grandmother that she was still in severe pain. She asked if she could come over. I told her not to, being that it was 4 in the morning. But, she came over anyway. When she came in, she had with her a black leather bag. It was full of medicine and Origel (a gel to stop tooth aches). She gave them all to my mom, and told her that she'll write a prescription for a stronger medicine. We thanked her and she went on her way. When I went outside to say goodbye, a thin sheet of snow was covering the ground.
It was beautiful. But, I had more important things to worry about.

I went back inside to see how my mom was doing. She went back upstairs, into her room. I entered slowly. I found her laying down in her bed. I was relieved to see that her pain stopped. I asked her if she wanted anything before I go back down stairs. She shook her head, and closed her eyes. I turned off the lights and tip-toed out of her room.

I went back down into my room... And here I am now. Telling you guys about this problem.
I sort of feel like a hero... If I hadn't call my grandmother, my mom would probably still be in pain.
And another good news is that my school is closed due to the snow. So, I'm like, yay!

Thanks for reading guys!
