It all started when I was hit by a car on a fateful day. I was walking to school and turned a corner where a little boy happened to be playing in the road. I was going to dismiss it when I seen a car come flying around the corner. I yelled to the boy but he didn’t seem to notice me. With out thinking I grabbed the boy and threw him out of the way. The next thing I know I’m in a dark and silent place. I couldn’t move and my body ached. Then I remembered it all.
I thought it was a dream. Maybe it wasn’t. I awoke in a room with 6 people in it. They were all talking very quietly to themselves. I tried to hear what they were saying but they got quiet as soon as they seen I was awake. “Hello, how are you?” asked a man on my left. The others looked startled and started to gather around me. I didn’t recognize any of them. “Well, is she going to live Kogar?” asked a man behind me and out of view.
I was about to sit up when the man who asked me if I was all right said “Don’t even think about sitting up. I don’t want you hurting you body more than it already is. I don’t plan on you dieing in my care. I won’t allow it.
“Now all of you get out unless you want me to make you get out.” All the men in the room scrambled for the door. When all had left he told me to lie down in the bed and get some rest.
He obviously didn’t see me give him a weird look. “Um, excuse me, who are you? I don’t think I know you. You seem to know me though.” I eventually said. He turned around and said “Of course I know you. Your name is Yoko Ito. You were born in Japan. Yet raised in America. Your American though. Your father was stationed there and you were born there.
“Your father died two years later of cancer. Your mother passed on two weeks ago. You are still grieving for her are you not?” He smiled and walked over to the table.
He walked back over to me with a glass of water and a pill. He told me to take it. He said it would help me sleep. Some how I knew I could trust him so I did.
Now I’m here. But where exactly is here. I can’t do anything. No one is talking to me. No one is around me. I saw a light in the distance. It seemed to be getting closer. Then I saw something inside of it. It was a memory.
I was a little girl. My mother was sitting next to me. I just couldn’t believe it. She was reading a book to me. There was a crash in the next room. My mother was near me and told me to go in the closet. I was reluctant at first but listened to her. She walked away and I couldn’t see her any more. Time passed and then she finally returned to me.
She had a big gash in her shoulder. She said It wasn’t a big deal then told me to go to bed. I couldn’t sleep that night. Within the week we moved.
