A Thousand Cranes
(Dedicated to all those who struggle everyday w/ leukemia.)

Due to a certain story told,
A thousand cranes I fold.
Hoping that the ancestors
May grant me a wish;
So that I can switch
To the life I want
So… a thousand cranes I fold.

No, this is no lie;
It’s for the day I die.
When the sickness takes me;
My Soul could be lost.
Or my body might become
As cold as frost.
That’s why… a thousand cranes I fold.

As I sit here alone,
On this hospital bed,
I nervously wait for the time
When I’ll be dead
I wait for the time
That I absolutely dread.

How, when I’m gone,
Will my family go on?
How I can
Possibly make them understand
Is so hard to do;
So hard to say to you.
But, know this now,
Just that somehow,
I will always love you.
It is also true,
That I’ll be watching over you.

First off: I just want to make it known, that despite what this poem may suggest, I DO NOT HAVE LEUKIMIA. exclaim stare But I do have an enormous respect for those who do. I heard the story of the girl from Japan who inspired the famous statue in one of the parks there. I heard the story a long time ago and that's when I wrote the poem. So there exclaim 4laugh

You're talking about the Sadako story, right? Quite unfortunate, it was. Did you write that? It's very good.
