This is a story that I've been working on for the past few months, and as of now, it doesn't have a title, but I'll figure something out.
~ Edit: I might have a name for it, and a series of books, this would obviously be the first book. I was thinking the series could be called 'The Hero Chronicles' and i was thinking this book would be called either 'The Gateway' or 'The Beginning'
~ Re-Edit: I decided on a name. "The Hero Chronicles: The Genesis Gate"
The History:
The gods are lost. The Black King is keeping them from returning to this realm. Evil is ruling the world. All hope seems to be lost. And all hope would be lost were it not for a prophecy told by an Elven Seer. This prophecy rekindled hope and faith for many believers in the old gods. All they have to do now is wait for the one spoken of in the prophecy.
This world was created by three gods who happened to be brothers: Lionheart, the god of good, the eldest of the three; Moonlight, god of neutrality, the middle child; and Shadow, god of death and all that is dark and evil, youngest of the three. With their combined power, a world was created with a perfect blend between good, evil, and neutrality. This was the beginning of the Age of Life. When the gods made men, the men set up temples and worshiped the god of their choosing. The gods made for themselves a throne on each of the moons. Lionheart made his throne on Sun Stone, the gray moon. Moonlight made his throne on Red Dusk, the red moon. And Shadow made his throne on Black Chaos, the black moon. They did this so that they could rule the World in peace. They each went down to the World and visited the temples every once in awhile, but that was never often. After some time, the three brothers saw fit that the people could rule themselves, so they appointed the first Kings and Queens all over the world. This became the Age of Man. Now, for reasons thus far only known to him, Shadow gave men the knowledge of weaponry and magic. And the Kings turned against each other. Wars came; death followed. This was the Age of War. The gods then appointed counsels and Sages for the Kings. This stopped many wars.
Then, suddenly, the gods were gone. Chaos reigned over the entire World; countries fell, new nations rose, kingdoms crashed, new Kings ruled, and hope was lost. Then the Counsel of the Twelve Sages intervened. One Sage from each major country, nation, or kingdom was placed as an ambassador in the Counsel. This began the Age of Peace. The Counsel kept order in the World for many hundreds of years; they kept the kingdoms from war and all was well. Until, that is, Zelix was placed as the new ambassador of Mortalius.
Zelix soon overthrew the Counsel and the king of Mortalius and became the self-proclaimed ruler. He gathered together an army of dark warriors and slowly began to conquer neighboring nations. Soon he controlled most of the continent of Gilash. The people began to call him the Black King, and so began the Age of Darkness. All hope seemed eternally lost; many resistance groups had gone against the Black King, but all failed.
Then the Elven Seer, known as Telkar, was gifted a vision of the Black King being overthrown. Zelix heard of this vision and captured Telkar and tortured him until he revealed to him the location of the boy foretold in the prophecy. Telkar died before Zelix could get more intimate details. But Zelix did find out that the prophesied one would have a very unique scar somewhere on his body.
65 years after Telkar prophesied against Zelix, Kage was born in the small village of Kilsh outside of Alexandria, the old capitol of Mortalius. That brings us to the point where the story begins.
The core beliefs of the people of the World were that if you led a life of servitude to the god of your choice, when you died, your spirit would travel to that gods moon and you would live with him forever. That belief was formed because people kept saying they had seen the spirits of loved ones whom had passed on.
The Story Line:
This story is based around Kage, Pierce, Red XIII, and Gaishen getting together the Element Stones and the Key of Dreams to unlock the Gateway to release the three brother gods from the prison that Zelix has caged them in.
The story begins with Kage’s family, and whole village for that matter, being slaughtered by a yet unknown person. Now all alone in this world, Kage now seems to have no purpose. Until, that is, Gaishen finds him.
Gaishen seems to have been sent through the Gateway by the gods themselves to help Kage along with his journey. First, they go to consult with the rumored Sage of the Blood Forest. To their surprise, he actually exists. He gives them all the information that they could possibly need about the four stones: the Storm Stone, the Blood Stone, the Light Stone, and the Dark Stone. Kage and Pierce must get the stones while eluding the assassin sent by Zelix to kill them. Soon after the adventure begins, they learn that Zelix is preparing an assault on the entire world with an army of unholy creatures; orcs, goblins, gnolls, warlocks, huntsmen, ghouls, and the like.
Zelix created the stones to make it nearly impossible to open the Gateway. The Storm Stone was placed under the protection of the Wolf people, giving them the power of all the elements. The Blood Stone was placed under the Nocturnes, which made them thirst for more blood. The Light Stone was placed under the protection of the Tenshi, the spirits of those who followed the old gods but were banished from the moons to spend eternity on the World. And last but not least, the Dark Stone is in the Black Citadel, in the Labyrinth, making it most difficult to get.
The Storm Stone, more commonly referred too as the Element Stone, was with the Wolf people, atop Cloud mountain. Kage, Pierce and Red XIII had to compete in a tournament, dueling wolves, going through obstacle courses, and solving puzzles. The leader of the wolves, a wolf named Carmak, deems them worthy enough to carry the Storm Stone.
The Light Stone resides in the ancient temple of Lionheart with the Tenshi. The Tenshi sense something very powerful in Pierce, and then they learn that Pierce is a Nephilim, a half-man half Tenshi. That explains his abnormally colored hair and the fact that whenever his emotions get high, flames burst from his head and hands. The Tenshi know that Kage is the child of the prophecy and agree to let him take the stone on the condition that Pierce is to undergo training, so he gets better control of his power. Soon after training, Kage gets the stone and then the Tenshi give him a sword. SunShard is the name of the sword; it was forged from a chunk of metal that fell from the sun, and it has a white glow emitting from the heart of the blade.
The Blood Stone is under the protection of the Nocturnes, the hostile, blood thirsty, vamperic-like creatures. Kage knows they would never give up the stone willingly; that would take away their source of power. He also knows that they’re weakened by light; and having the power of SunShard and the Light Stone, Kage thinks it shouldn’t be that hard to get the Blood Stone. Kage thought wrong. Upon getting into the heart of the cave, they’re swarmed by hundreds of Nocturnes. Battling for what seems like hours, they finally slew the last of the attacking Nocturnes. Vaalsh, the Nocturne ruler, agrees to give them the stone, on the condition that they harm no more of his military on the way out of the cave.
The climax of the story is when Kage and Pierce muster together a small army and march towards the Black Citadel. Their main goal is for Kage, Pierce, Gaishen, Red XIII and a small group of elite fighters to sneak in, get the Dark Stone and the Key of Dreams and open the Gateway to release the gods from the Prison. They succeed, though Pierce and Red XIII die in the attack.
The battle was over. Victory belonged to the resistance army, with the help of the gods of course.
The gods made Kage the King of Mortalius, and he eventually married Gaishen; they ruled the kingdom happily for many years to come. Musicians to this day still sing the tale of how Kage, the Master Swordsman saved the World from the enveloping darkness.
