Rosemary


Once there was a girl named Rosemary. Rosemary was one of the most beautiful and sweetest girls in her father’s kingdom. She was the daughter of King Leo and Queen Nathea. The King and Queen ruled the kingdom of Isgeus.

One day Rosemary told her mother and father that she would be in the garden at the back of the castle. Her mother allowed her to go but warned her not to go into the forest of the goddess Athenes for it was said to have a waterfall in its the center. Whoever lay their eyes on the water of the waterfall would want to drink form it and then be cursed for life. Rosemary replied that she would never go into the forest. She just wanted to go into the garden to read her book and enjoy the flowers in the garden.

When she was reading in the sunshine, she saw from the corner of her eye, a deer but not any deer a snow white deer. She soon fell in love with it of its great beauty. Rosemary wanted to capture it so it could be her pet. She chased after it and soon the white deer went into a deep dark forest. Rosemary chased after it without thinking. She was determined to chase the beast that she forgot her mothers warning about the forest. Soon she realize what she had done but it was too late. She was losted in the forest of Athenes. She kept walking and soon she saw an intense light. Rosemary followed the light and then she saw a waterfall. Its water was crystal clear, an intense sparking azure. She could not resist. She ignored her mothers warning not to drink the water. .Rosemary was entranced by the glitter and as soon as a drop of the magical water touched her tongue she turned into a snow white deer.

She was horrified and spent hours aimlessly wardering in the forest. She came upon the deer she had been chasing. This deer started to speak to Rosemary and said, “because you have disobeyed your mother and father and drank the waters of my forest you will be cursed. You will leave your mortal life behind and live as a deer in my forest forever. You shall never be human again and not even your father can recognize you.”
As the deer talked she slowly transformed into the goddess of the moon, Athene. Rose wept her heart breaking, for the lose of her family.

One day she went back to the garden where she had once loved to read. When her father saw her, he took out a bow and shoot an arrow through her heart. Never had he seen so beautiful a beast as this deer. He did not know that he had just killed his daughter. As soon the arrow pierced Rosemary’s heart the curse was broken. Rosemary fell to the ground, she was in a white gown half socked with blood, she was dead. Rosemary’s her father saw at he had done and he cried for the lost of his daughter. Somewhere near by Athene watched this terrible thing happen. She felt so responsible for taking Rosemary from her family and now causing them this much sorrow that she turned Rosemary into a flower that was red. This flower was beautiful but had needles that sticked out of its stem to symbolize the arrow that killed Rosemary. This flower was then called Rose.
