Day 3 & 4
Mood: Mistified/Astound eek
Okay so this is a mixture of days three and four because the final hotel we stayed at had crappy wireless. JERKS! scream
So we'll start off with Day 3:
Phil and I pulled an all nighter, as mentioned in day 2. Well, we didn't go to bed till about five thirty. We had to wake up at six forty-five. I was beyond exhausted. I didn't wake until seven, because I was so exhausted. But finally I got up and hustled to get ready, this time choosing panty hoose over knee highs. Mistake. ARGH!
So I hustle down to the bus, the other school we went with lagging behind as usual. We ended up leaving two girls behind (they had to catch a taxi to the school)! There me and Phil found out we got a 'buy' (which was expected) so we sat out the first round. We watched Angela and her partner to cross-fires and I decided I like those better, because the speeches are shorter and you get to look at the person you're debating instead of the judge.
Somehow I was put in the Varsity Group, which was really strange. I didn't realize that yesterday. So me and Phil went to our first debate, and OMIGAWD! That judge freaking scared me. I had the strongest feeling he was going to make me run out crying. I mean, he looked like a really nice guy, but when he began to talk I could already feel the tears brimming! Phil calmed me down though and we prepared. We went up against some school that homeschooled kids go to, and we debated against kids from it yesterday like both times. Phil was right. They multiply like bunnies!
I actually think we did really good on that debate. I'll find out tomorrow what ones we won. Then we went to our second debate and this one was a little harder. Mostly because it was like everything we said went through one ear and out the other with the group we debated against. It was bloody annoying. Ther value for the topic was 'Just' and it was a bunch of BS. evil
After that I finally took off my panty hoose. Here is why: when my sister grabbed them, she must have grabbed like extra-long ones, and since I'm short that is bad. so they were sagging and really annoying, and got runs in them. Finally I said 'forget this' and went to the bathroom to take them off. I had on pants, so it didn't matter.
After debate our coach took all of us (our team and the team we came with) to the city. We walked all the way to Ground Zero and then the Statue of Liberty from St. Patrick University. That was about three miles x.x which gave blisters on the back of my ankles because I had nothing to protect me feet from the shoes, so they rubbed up against me when we walked.
But it was worth the pain.
It was beautiful and shocking and completely mesmerizing. The sight of it was brother breath-taking and heart shattering. I wish I had a camera, but that's okay. It completely inspired me to paint.
I loved it. I love the city. I really want to move there now, more then before.
Despite its flaws (i.e. fat men walking with hands down their pants!) it's a town of culture and ethnicity and beauty. Everything about it from its buildings, to the giant pigions, to the decay and rubble just touched me.
I rode the subway for the first time -- talk about jerky! And the birds there were SO HUGE! I couldn't believe it. I wanted to take one home with me.
It was funny. All trip I've been getting Lean and everyone else look when I say 'look there's a (mongoose, octopus, ect.) and when I say look there's a giant bird in New York, Lean goes 'uh uh I'm not falling for that' and Josh even backed me up, and she didn't believe me! But then the next day she fell for it again!
So we walked back to the school, stopping to buy stuff (got something for Susie like I promised) and then began to drive home. Coach Jeff bought movies before we left cause the bus had a VCR. So we watched Detroit Rock City and then Star Track: Nemesis. First one was great. Second one was meh. =/ I kind of played my game boy and slept for that one. We ate around eight then stopped at the Econo Lodge Inn, which had the bad wireless. BOO!!
That was day 3!
Day 4!
Woke up at six, having took my shower last night, I gathered my stuff and was out by seven. We had to wait thirty minutes for the other team to get up and moving, stopped at McDonald's for breakfast, finished watching Star Trek, and then started American Beauty.
We were on the road and HOMEWARD BOUND! YAY! biggrin
During American Beauty we passed through the hills, and there was a breath-taking scene. Tall hills rolled out as far as the eye could see, off into the horizon, with trees covering every inch. The leaves were golds, browns, yellows, reds, and oranges. They reminded me of a quilt, with the patches of colors. The blue sky contrasted with the colors, and set around the hills was thick fog, like puffs of clouds. It looked like someone had poured them in, settled around with only the humps of the hills peeking out. I woke up Phil to show him -- it was amazing.
Then we stared watching called Shadow of the Vampire. No it wasn't a slasher. It was weird. It had a vampire (I think) but it was about when the first Dracula movie was made. It was strange and messed up.
We stopped at a gas station midway through the movie and grabbed snacks as we filled up the gay tank. Lunch was small consisting of Cuban Chex Mix, Neon Sour Gummy Worms, and Sun Chips. >> Healthy.
After that was done I pulled the iPod out and computer and began to write for about an hour. Then I used Phil for my pillow once more (really comfy!) and slept the rest of the way there. I got back about an hour ago and now I'm going to watch a movie!
So BYE!!
