Gragh! They've done it again! Took a completely and totally awesome game and completely and totally ruined it! For the record, EA, I hate your guts.
Allow me to explain... I have just found out that Maxis's new masterpiece, Spore, will NOT be multiplayer! It ticks me off so much! Well, okay, so you'll be able to upload your creatures onto the internet for use by other players, big deal. You CANNOT, however, play in a multiplayer universe where the goal is to slowly evolve and gradually wipe out your oponent from the galaxy. Furthermore, there will be no massive sapce battles, and you can only go forward through the scope of the game. You cannot actually play the colonization of another planet. It's taken care of automatically. It's just too bad! The game was looking so awesome...
In other, less dramatic news, I have discovered exactly how awesome CSS can make a webpage. Here's an example of what I mean:
http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=/194/194.css&page=0
Rather than just changing the font size/color/type/etc, it can be used as a complete template from which all your other pages draw their data. That is to say, it can be used to consolidate a completely awesome background, and make all the text static (unless you decide to change it for a specific page), which means that you only have to edit one page to change the backgroundon all pages, saving you a ton of time and energy. So, I'm going to be experimenting with it as soon as I work out exactly how I want my website to look. But, now I'm just getting boring, aren't I?
Well, life's been busy for not being busy. It's summer over here, of course, so I'm at home jsut about all the time. this leads to long periods of boredom and stretched lengths of depression which I deal with by playing MMORPGs. However, this means I have to turn to Guild Wars as I can't afford other MMOs. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if Guild Wars hadn't ruined its own concept. It tries far too hard to be an RPG rather than an MMORPG. It even goes so far as to only allow interaction with other players in towns, or if you accept them into your party. Then, there's the only being able to equip eight skills at once, the armor system which auto-customizes everyone's armor specifically to that character so it can't be sold, given to another character, etc. Also, the level cap is twenty. TWENTY!!1!1 This wasn't as much of a problem in the original Guild Wars because it took so long to get that far. Factions, however, is set up to get you to level twenty before you even leave the starter area (region, whatever). Then, you have to go through a huge section of plot before you even get to the actual game (by which I mean the Factions warring thing). Also, Assassin's were massively nerfed. They die way too easily.
Back in real-life, things are about average. I still have minimal programming knowledge, I still can't draw, I still can't create the models I want to in Rhino, and I'm too lazy to push through to improve any of these things (they say realization is the first step to improvement (or something like that), but I've realized this for years and still haven't done anything about it). Then there's the fact my mom keeps pressuring me to do things. For example, she will come in here any second to tell me I need to print off more pictures for her to use in Grandma and Grandpa's scrapbook. A few days ago she handed me a sheet of paper and told me I needed to take this online test so I'd be ready to learn how to drive when I get older. For someone who seems so intent on me waiting until I turn eighteen to drive, she sure is hyped about me driving... I keep telling her I don't want to and that I'm going to delay doing so as long as is physically possible. she keeps telling me I'll change my mind. In addition, she's become a religous zealot again recently. It's getting on my nerves... A lot... I even got the 'humans are superior to animals' speech the other day from her. While it had been intended to cheer me up (we had been shelling lobsters, and I was forced to join in the mutilation), it instead had the effect of further depressing me (I use the term 'depress' lightly here). Then again, my dad can be annoying at times as well. Don't get me wrong, however, they're not mean all the time or anything, it's just I usually don't write about it unless it's annoying me.
On Saturday, Karin Daath, Sakura_Haruno_Uchiha, Nichevin, and myself went to a park to film a bad horror movie (it was indeed bad), and that was fun. With any luck we'll be able to see just how terrible sometime soon.
Hmm... Despite the time gap, I'm running out of things to write about, so I suppose I'll finsih it off in this way:
I'm planning on buying the Evolution series from Sting, and I don't mean that in a jocular way most fan fic writers do. I'm serious, I intend to someday buy the series and completely redo it, properly this time, in the sci-fi way it so desperately wants to be done. Why bother? This game has Linear! One day, when I'm a famous game creator, it shall occur! Look for it! expect it! BUY IT!
That's all for now. Gotta go play boardgames with my family now (even though mama isn't going to play because she enjoys feeling put upon).
Until we meet again,
~Neko, the elusive Neko-Ninja, Sheera
